Costel Pantilimon playing for the reserves????
we bought him to replace Shay Given, after Arsenal and Chalsea have been after him. So why is taylor on the bench and he in the reserves?!?

He might not be fit. Goalkeepers have to be good athletes as well as outfield players too, you know?! A game in the resvs might just be a pre-season training game that the rest of the squad had in America, Dublin and at Wembley.

Same reason Agüero was on the bench on Monday. He's had just two weeks full training, where the rest of the squad have had six.

I think the performance of De Gea fortherags answers your question. Goalkeepers can't hide from mistakes like outfield players, get him acclimatised to English football and then he can go on the bench

According to the OS he is only on loan?

-- Wed Aug 17, 2011 11:58 pm --

On a balmy evening at Ewen Fields, Andy Welsh’s Blues looked strong, controlling and creating throughout with a quiet debut for goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon, signed from Poli Timisoara on a 12-month loan.

It's a 12-month loan with a set price for the option to buy after the 12 month loan is complete. A way to test the player out before committing fully.

Calm down it has only been one game and he is probably unfit still whilst Stu has played in the dublin super cup and in America, Costel will get his chance soon enough in the early rounds of the domestic cups
