Why losing out on the bid is good for English football

Now the dust has settled slightly I have started to think it is not all bad losing the bid. I think English football has more important problems to deal with before we waste money on a World Cup.

I hope with the money that would of gone of hosting the tournament will now be put into the Burton project, this is so important to the future of football as it will be used for young lads to develop properly. There is no coincidence that Holland, France, Spain and Germany have better young players than us as they all have had these development programmes for 5-10 years. Furthermore it will allow more coaches to be developed as there will be a place for them to coach and earn a wage instead of wasting it on a tournament where crooks from FIFA will be making millions even billions from our country, so id rather it be Russia that did it. Anyway FIFA will be put under pressure as it will be a poor WC just like the previous one where it was clearly not ready for it.

Dont know other people feel on this but I think if we got the bid it would of only delayed the Burton plans and be used as an excuse. Anyway who cares hopefully my first love can win a league or champions league before then.

Good post. Its time we sorted the quality of our football out.back to basics. perhaps then we can build a team of young players who are as comfortable on the ball, and as technically able as germany, france and spain etc.
The last world cup effort was so poor, it beggars belief we are not putting as much effort into planning to win a future cup as holding the tournament..

losing the bid could well be a blessing in disguise.
