Why not use all the subs?

Most teams waste time &;piss about when in front & stick subs on just to eat minutes up
I must admit it does piss me off but it does slow down &;frustrate the opposition
Normally an not arsed but would have been nice to see Tommy Doyle & Agureo come on for a minute or two
But Pep knows best & wot the fu*k do I know lol ?

Pep likes to try and get through without making subs, I guess to protect those coming on from a niggle or putting their body through the cycle of playing.

And it worked an absolute treat. They didn’t have a sniff after we scored, our game management was impeccable. We’re the best team I’ve ever seen at playing corner flags.

From what I can gather he doesn't see the need of making subs if we're playing well, often regardless of scoreline.

On top of that, there's no point making a sub to preserve someone's fitness when it only takes away from the player coming on. A lot of the time we're comfortable towards the end of the game anyway, so fitness doesn't become an issue then. There's a valid argument to say that some players' fitness is more important than others but I strongly believe Pep values each squad member equally. He's VERY principled in ways like that.

I don't have the stats to back it up but it feels like he's more liberal with subs when there are 5 available. This might suggest he's more concerned about being caught left out when there are 3 available.

It does seem odd that Pep was so pro five subs per game but not arguing with his methods or results
