why this has been hushed of late

They think it is something to do with gases beign released under the sea. When they release and a ship passes over it, the ship looses its boyancy.

Surely a cheap way for oceanographers to check this would be to monitor a large group of people farting in the bath? Ask people to supply their own model yachts - job's a good un.

logically making sense! plenty of experiments to support this!!!

but it still doesn t explain why "incidents" have stopped of late in modern times... why not continue as normal... we could have analyzed activity!?
incidents have stopped... i think the last one was back in`97?!

bit odd!!!!!!

Des do you honestly not get it?? Incidents are continuing as NORMAL because that's all they ever were!! Normal incidents of ships and planes getting lost at sea.

On a side note, this area is one of the busiest shipping routes in the world. It would be more surprising if there weren't slightly more incidents in this area than many others. As I said before though, statistically speaking, there is no difference.

Cheers I'd always been curious about that one. Thought it might be cricket related or something..... :-)

do you not get it.....post ww2 an increased activity in the area resulted in nearly a thousands ships going missing...sometimes without a trace. then the activity stopped....as we were "spoonfed" all of the above answers(origional post!).

.... although this can happen any sea in the world.cape of good hope as an example..

it hasn t....for the media to claim it as weather/ufo`s/sea monster/spooks of atlantis....
with cuba being so close do you think military/naval exercises or experiments may have taken place during these over paranoid days?????? is that a more plausible explanation rather than the above

des where are you getting your info from? as cheesy has pointed out the official sources say that no more ships go missing in the bermuda triangle than any other part of the sea with a similar level of traffic? there is nothing 'strange' at all about ships disappearing there

The incident that brought the myth of the Bermuda Triangle to the publics recognition was that of the disappearnce of Flight 19. Again though, the reality of the situation was that the flight merely got lost due to poor weather & inaccurate navigational aids. It is actually thought that although the flight flew through tis area, it actually disappeared somewhere else.
