If i go out it's always a hotel in Manchester, this is done for good reason.

Not many wine bars really, little 15 is nice i guess but mainly shite bars and night clubs.

If you smarten your approach to it you should have a fairly decent night, just like any other northern town, got it's share of oddballs but they add to the ambience.
