Wilkins for City ??

He was obviously well liked at Chelsea within the players camp, can only be a good addition in whatever he does? Thinking about it, he'll be a good addition as long as it's not being a commentator on the website highlights!

No thanks. He's a twat.

I'd give him a job at city even if it was only to make sure the boring fart isnt on the football commentary any more.

The upside to him working at City would be that his is very 'media friendly' which means he would counteract all of the 'anti-city' crap that comes out of the pundits pie-holes!

he wants to lick the ass of the rags at every given opertunity though. i don't see why we should have a pro rag coach at our club unless he's willing to change his views drastically

IMO i think your wrong, he always compliments city when he's commentating, he always says how he loves how we play football etc. I wouldnt call him a pro rag

by "always" do you mean this season? Over the years he has given us some real shit and I cannot stand the fucker - and I am in my 50's before the dickheads say back to school on Monday

-- Sat Sep 03, 2011 3:57 pm --

lol

He talks total sense. Most people on television talk utter shit, mostly none talk in a tactical sense and some are desperately bad (Hansen for example). But Wilkins knows his stuff and tells it straight. He's completely unbiased too so i don't know what that poster was on about earlier when he said he licks the Rags arse, daft!

He's 100% coming but wont be replacing anyone.

Rated very highly as a coach and has superb knowledge in terms of european football.

Source for this?

Cant really say on here pal, could get someone in trouble.

From what I was told its more with a view towards the champions league campaign, not really sure what that means but doesnt sound like hes gonna be working day in day out with the side?!

Just take it at face value and if it doesnt come off come on this thread and tear me a new one :-)

Wilkins at City?? Why?? We have enough backroom staff.
I thought backroom staff were people like Halford and Fletcher. People we don't see. Wilkins will be a coach.

Uncle Fester and Mr Potato Head in the dugout, that'll be a feast for the viewers! ;-)

Bringing Wilkins in will be a good move IMO, another highly respected coach - and yes the bonus of getting his droning voice off the commentaries!

We've been talking to him for a while apparently and I'd assumed it was part of a potential deal with Mourinho. Obviously that (JM) isn't going to happen so we must be talking to him on his own account.

I know he was well-liked at Chelsea but am not too sure how much input he had into coaching. Story is it wasn't too much and his role had more to do with player relationships than actual coaching. Abramovich might have sacked him because he was worried he was too close to the players. Heard some stories about drinking as well. Allegedly.

If he is coming in i could see it being as a replacement for Kidd, who I think is also largely responsible for looking after the players and in his 60's now.

Did Wilkins even work with Mourinho?

I thought he was brought in when Scolari or Hidding were

Yes he was brought in as Scolari's No. 2

sorry to some but i would like to see mr boring at city
he comes across very professional and calm and has a wealth of footie experience
speaks italian
euro knowledge
bring him on board i say

hope we don't get him!
football coverage on TV is hard enough to cope with as it is without losing one of the few people who can actually articulate their views in a lucid and clear fashion.
Can't be doing with Chris "pelanty" Waddle, Gary "wooden f***ing Neville, boring, boring Alan Hansen, smug Gary Lineker etc etc.
rant over!
