True and correct. It is very clear that if we win the league again next season it will be five titles without POTS. But who cares it only diminishes the award. As far as the Big B is concerned we have never really had a serious contender and can have no complaints. We’ve won the league four times this decade and in none of those seasons, which have also included two doubles and a quadruple, have any of our players won POTS.
2012- van Persie (Kun was even beaten to Young POTS by Kyle Walker FFS!)
2014- when it was clear as day it should have been Yaya, it went to Billy the Beaver
2018- when it was clear as day it should have been KdB it went to the Egyptian diving team Captain
2019- van Dijk
So there’s no way on Earth anyone from City will ever win the Balon d’Or. We could win the Premier League and Champions League double next season and POTS would go to Mane and Balon d’Or to Neymar with KdB and Bernardo ignores despite setting up a record 191 goals for City in all comps.
We could win the quad beating liverpool in every single competition and the press would still spend the whole summer talking about good van dik is or how their front three is the greatest of all time.Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo were the best of this era without contest. Difficult for someone else to win it. You have to have a great season + winning league title + CL + any international competition if you want to beat those two. Modric lucked out thanks to Croatia great World Cup.
I don't think there is a City bias in Ballon d'Or contest. City does not perform in CL, this is what put your players far from winning it.
Well, Ballon d'Or is not given by the same people that give Player of the year in PL. For Ballon d'Or you can assume it is either Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo unless a team other than their team wins CL or international competition. We could win the quad beating liverpool in every single competition and the press would still spend the whole summer talking about good van dik is or how their front three is the greatest of all time.
Don't give a rat's pitoot if any of them win it, BUT I'd hope they all retire from football as City players.I think Kev, Bernardo and Leroy all have the potential to be the best player in the world. Whether they'd win the Ballon d'Or whilst they're at City though is a different matter entirely.
