Will the Arabs make a statement with Hughes?

I know, another Hughes thread.

Do you reckon the Arabs will make a statement with Hughes and stick with him through all of this. They will want to show they are not your "typical" owner who makes hasty decisions. I think he could be here for the long haul.

I hope not, but i think it could be the case.

I can see what you mean, but I don't think a lot of City fans will see the owners as making a "hasty decision". I'd say over half of City's supporters want Hughes out now, quite different to the Sven epedemic we had at the end of last season.

I don't think Hughes is the right man but I think we should stick with him for now just because I think we might be able to get Mourinho at the end of the season. Despite Hughes doing so badly, it's quite a refreshing feeling in a way not to have owners who aren't quick to sack him and in the long run it will do us good (patience - not sticking with Hughes)

Difference being, whenever a manager is sacked like Ince, people always moan about the chairman and say they weren't given enough time. If the Arabs make a statement with Hughes, until at least the end of the season, they can be seen in a positive light by the media as giving him sufficient time to prove himself in 2 transfer windows, and a full season. It will also endear them to other managers looking to take over the job

No, they will quietly let Hughes try to rectify the situation, most likely by buying his own type of players, like Bellamy and Santa Cruz, in the January window. He will then get sacked only if we are beaten comprehensively by Copenhagen and remain in the depths of the Premiership.

If speculation continues to intensify I would imagine that another statement would be released. If Hughes just did not keep banging on about what a hard job he has and gets rid of the rubbish about lowering expectations then I would give him more time.

I think he needs to realise that we do not need to go along the root of building this club from scratch, he has the resources available to him to buy success and if after January we do not see a huge difference in performance then I would say he is certain for the boot.

His saving grace is his track record in the transfer market and I would hope we have a few gems lined up that could save us from a season of struggle.

I thought his position would be untenable with defeat yesterday. Thats clearly not the case and he's here for Fridays game at least.

Personally, i'm prepared to cut the fella some slack and see where we are at the end of Jan once he's had time to put his stamp on things. The summer was a total joke in true MCFC fashion, we had money, we didnt have money, firesale, no firesale, richest club in the world all in the space of a few weeks! I think HIS buys have been an undoubted success (SWP, Kompany, Zabaletta). TBH was different as we were shopping in the bargain basement.

I think we need to write this season off as a bad one, make sure we survive (which we will) and reassess whether progress has been made in the summer once the new players have had time to bed in. I dont see any benefit in changing right now. Targets will already have been drawn up and the last thing we need is players arriving that a new manager may not want.

Whats clear is we need 3 points on Friday. Nothing less. I'd take a piss awful performance and a 95th min 6 times deflected rebound off Vassells arse as long as it was the winner!

Wahey, a good post.

What he needs is the good old vote of confidence.

I would have thought defeat against Hull and Blackburn would see the end of him before January, even if they state something public backing him before Friday.

He'll be given the transfer window for the reasons most have given, if we get rid now it could ruin the transfer window plans. Unless things get really really bad I can't see him going until the summer.

1. As everyone seems to agree that ADUG are good business people, why would they have invested in a business that they are completely ignorant of?

2. They did not appoint MH [or GC].

3. The owners don't want to look ignorant but have the money to influence almost anyone.

4. I therefore suggest re-arranging the words, 'mutual, substantial, consent, parting, sum, undisclosed, company...' and so on.

5. Therefore, the obvious answer is give MH £10m to disappear for a while. You may also feel that this applies to a few players, but I blame him as he is the manager and he has got it hopelessly wrong. However, I don't take ADUG to be trigger happy and so this may not come about until the summer, I am afraid to say.

Are you one of the many thousands who believe we weren't shopping in the 'bargain basement' under Sven, in Jan, last year?? Why is the TBH buy allowed to be passed over, when we had half a seasons worth of chance players bought for next to nothing cos we were lied to about money?
