Just installed this piece of shit and it's fucked everything up, so I need some help.

Basically I've just finished installing and all my preferences have changed. The icons on the desktop are huge, and won't go smaller, The font on my browser is massive and fuzzy and won't change back to how it was, even when I select a smaller font, and finally all my mouse track pad gestures (eg. swiping to change apps etc.) suddenly don't work.

Anyone know how to uninstall it and go back to how it was? Or indeed change the display settings? I've gone in to control panel and nothing has worked so far!

My first guess is you need to update the driver for you graphics card.

You will most likely find an icon for your graphics card in the bottom right corner of the screen. Clicking on that icon should give you a link to update the driver... as in something like "Check for updates".

Hope this helps.

EDIT: I've never seen Windows 8.1 so am guessing there is still a system tray in bottom right of screen.

1. Right-click on Desktop and select "Screen resolution" option.

2. Now click on "Make text and other items larger or smaller" link.

3. Now select the "let me choose scaling level...

4. Reboot

DPI scaling is by default turned off in 8.1 for some stupid reason.

Cheers Guy. Was having the same issue as Goo, saves me asking :)

Cheers for all the posts guys.

Managed to get things sorted with a driver update on my track pad, and playing around with the resolution settings on the screen. I didn't realise you needed to basically reoboot before you saw any changes you'd made to your resolution. Stupid thing!

Oh well, finally my PC is back to it's normal neat self!

Don't bother with 8.1. It's almost completely pointless

Windows 8 and 8.1 are not very user friendly but when you get the right configuration it's a lovely smooth system.

Give it a chance and see how it goes.

Here are some addons to improve the windows 8 interface.
