I’m currently running Vista and what an absolute bag of sh*te ! I’ve got a 2gh processor and 4g of DD memory yet it’s like a snail with cramp.
I have re-loaded in the last week but it’s still sh*te.

My question, if I go to Linux is there a lot of reprogramming etc, I’ve got kids who just want to jump on the pc as and when.

Also, I believe, most programmes for Linux are free and can be used with Windows, if needed.

Any help advice really appreciated.

Thanks

Have had a look at it myself as a dual boot on my old pc but its probably easier to try it as a virtual machine from within windows, just get (free) vmware player:
http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

then download this virtual appliance which should be like a pc with Ubuntu (free and probably the most user friendly Linux) already installed on it:
http://www.vmware.com/appliances/directory/1068.

That way you can give it a try without having to remove vista, you can just delete the linux machine if you dont like it.
