are no more important than men and therefore people should stop ranking atrocities/massacres/genocides/terrorist attacks on the number of women and children killed and completely ignoring all the poor blokes, many also unarmed, who would have copped it as well."

Not going to use the D word as that annoys certain folk on here but your opinions please.

Can of worms opened here?

Looking at it from a purely statistical viewpoint that's probably correct, but people don't look at situations like that from a statistical view, they look at it with emotion and we've been trained to see men as protectors and women and children as To Be Protected (which they are) so the media use that to trigger a response.

As we are told repeatedly, women are equal. That said, the whole hitting women thing is not cool. (unless they hit me first, then fuck them)

Children are a different matter completely. Won't somebody please think of the children?

As its in quotation marks are these words your own or have they been taken from somewhere else and you are asking for opinions?

And whats the D word!?

I disagree, primarily because men and women, and furthermore children, are not equal.

They should have equal rights (men and women that is) but they're not equal.
