Working in town

Used to work at the Piccadilly hotel after leaving school coming home at silly hours with the prossies and druggies about, then Thomson House, vaugely knew my way around then in the late 70's., not been in town since. No time for cities, hate built up areas and traffic.

I had a sunday job at the Mirror in Thomson House, mid 80's. Town was a ghost town back then on sundays, nothing was open

I work on the 6th floor of the building thats on Picadilly Gardens and have a desk that overlooks the gardens - love it for the entertainment value on daily basis! There's some fucking loons about!!!

Cities tend to attract bigger companies that tend to have better opportunities for progression. There are obviously exceptions though.

I didn't even think of that. I could do but might be pretty sweaty by the time I got there
No you wouldn't. Give it a go, you'll be pleasantly pleased over the time savings, money savings and overall enjoyment. It's something to look forward to every day rather than dread.

I love it. Drive in can be a pain but generally stay in town two or three nights a week.

Have a walk into Piccadilly most days. Say hello to a few people on route and nip in empire exchange and read a few of programmes.

Meetings in Spinningfields a few times a week as I have a pint in a different pub most nights.

It’s a bloody great place.
Pint in different pub most nights eh??, ....explains the 3 wives then ;-))))

I've worked in central Manchester for 35 years. I haven't driven in for years as the commute was more stressful than the job.

Now just get the tram in from Bury which is £7.00 a day but I work at home 2 days which defrays the cost.

I can't think of a single benefit to working in Manchester. Even on match nights, kick offs are increasingly at 8 o'clock which means hanging around after work and missing the last bus at Bury.

Working in London for a couple of years was better because no-one drove in and so people would go out and socialise after work. Plus transport was a lot better.
