Work's Christmas do

we don't have christmas do's anymore, used to have one provided by work and you all threw a tenner in, but they wont subsidise the rest anymore, and the department one stopped as half the staff cannot stand each other and won't go out together and the rest either don't drink, don't go out or just talk work all through the night so nobody asks them.
Tend to be small groups do there own thing.

Even though theres a free bar I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than go on the works do. Bad enough I have to spend 40 hours a week with some of the fuckwits without spending my own time with them as well.

I tend to give Works Christmas do's a thorough ignoring nowadays. I hate most of the idiots where I work (and I'm sure in many cases, the feeling is mutual), so why would I want to part with real cash money to socialise with them?

Having said that, I have been to some absolute belters over the years. Always start quiet, then the lightweights get smashed and get rowdy, then the lightweights start going man down, then someone gets grumpy, then the inevitable argument over a woman, then someone gets emotional, always a fight, always blood, tears and then talking broken gibberish. For me, they always ended in a bollocking from my good lady wife.

The guy I do most of my work for used to take all the sub contractors out for a steak meal and a good piss up.
A couple of years ago there were 13 of us and most of the guys were Irish. We went to a top steak house and drank like fishes during our meal.
After the meal we went next door to the Bier Markt where he handed everyone a $100.00 dollar bill to buy their drinks with.
Last year he took us to to an all you can eat Chinese buffet. Bit of a let down tbh.

Had mine last night in nantwich and it was fairly tame. However one girl threw up at the table we were all sitting at. Not just a bit, but barf everywhere and even splashed a few people. Kinda killed the night.
