The only saving grace is that Southgate seems a reasonable and intelligent man, and won't replace sterling with golden boy just because the media want him to. But I would play vardy instead of lingard. I don't see the point in him being there. Sterling and vardy can do that work.

Surely you can see in this system Rashford is better suited tho?

Good opening performance. Not pretty at times but Tunisia made sure it wouldn’t be.
Plenty of chances tonight which is a positive. 2nd half we were camped in their half. Game was ruined by consistent fouling and time wasting. We have a good young bunch and Harry Kane is a world class player. A good start.

Thought England played very well tonight.
I like the system GS has them playing, no hoofing, nice relaxed play.
Stones was superb, very assured, so was Kyle except for his moment of madness
England created many chances and couldve had a bigger scoreline, should also have had a pen for the 1st half on Kane.
Everybody did their jobs well.

Against teams like Tunisia and Panama we need a back 4 with Walker and Rose as fullbacks doing what they do best. Young should be nowhere near the squad.

Our main problem is the midfield doesn't move the ball (or themselves) quick enough and when they try they lose possession. Delph should come in alongside Loftus-Cheek and Alli pushed further up. Get Sterling out on the right where he causes the most damage to the opposition.

Henderson and Dier are only needed when we play better teams and we're chasing the ball for 90mins and then play Sterling centrally with Vardy to counter, that would mean dropping Kane though and he's England's new poster boy.

Southgate showed his inexperience with his changes, like for like replacements and no tactical changes.

I don't buy the Rashford hype, run quickly at players and lose the ball, repeat.

Kane might score but he doesn't do nearly enough running or closing down. None of the top teams have passengers like that but if he really must play the full game I think Kane and Vardy might be the best option, Raheem can drop deeper into Lingard's position who is just not good enough. Rashford can be an impact player off the bench when opposition legs tire.

Henderson and Young should not start the next game either.

Kane still looks rusty. He runs more than most strikers in the league and is a work horse. There is so much to him than goals. I think Southgate is telling him to take it easy a bit.

Either way he scored 2 goals, should have had 2 penalties and every other person on this forum thinks he should be dropped. Let's bring Wellbeck in instead. I can see him banging them in

Thought I'd do my patriotic bit and just watched the game in full. I'm not sure how Sterling is getting any stick he did nothing wrong, nothing great either but same as anyone else. Even his 'miss' was offside and the pass behind him so bit harsh.

Lingard missed 4 clear chances and Alli was anonymous. I think the fact they are forcing Lingard into the team is hindering Sterling as they are making similar runs.

Sadly for England same old story not many footballing brains on the pitch but plenty of energy and desire can see last 8 no further they are a bit pants.

I thought it was a decent opening game with a very positive outcome. Why some find pleasure in damning players is beyond me.

Loftus Cheek to start ahead of Lingard and Rose for Young would-be my only changes, assuming Dele is fit. I feel Rose offers more balance on the left and Loftus Cheek looks dangerous repeatedly . I suspect Rashford may start the next game; after all, he is godlike according to the commentators!
