i kinda get where your coming from, it looked it but it wasn't until it was slowed down from the front on angle you could see the swede just got there a fraction before. At least VAR conclusively shows it's a pen, no One can complain about it. Just shows how many decisions refs get wrong. Not necessarily cos there useless, it's a hard job. He was behind the incident, from his angle hard to be sure initially.

Why do they keep protesting every decision when the game is being continuously monitored?

The ref can't stop the game until the ball is in a 'neutral area'.

Would the ref have given that penalty if VAR wasn't used?
I know he didn't give it in real time, but with VAR being used it's a nice cop out for ref's. He knows if it is a pen, his mates in the studio will let him know. Without them, he'd have a decision to make himself.

i thought it was an excellent tackle as the ball flew to the right, wasn't until the replay that the Swedish player got a touch - once again VAR making sure a team isn't robbed of a penalty
