World Cup 2018 | 3rd July | R16: Colombia vs England Match Thread, KO 19:00 (BST)

Wrong decision by VAR but how anyone can argue the amount of correct decisions because of VAR has increased I don't know. If that's the case then you can't argue it's not an improvement on no-var and it will get better as it evolves(hopefully).

As I said, WC VAR strikes again.

It’s not that much better than no-VAR with this implementation, even if it has gotten a few things right, as there is no way to predict the outcomes of similar incidents due to an utter lack of consistency. If anything, it is merely a way of legitimising suspect calls.

VAR could be great for the game, but there does not seem to be an impetus to implement in a manner where it will be as impartial and consistent as is possible.

It would need fucking RULES first.

Then how v.a.r. interprets them.

Columbia haven’t got a goal in them. Falcao won’t last 90mins - it’s coming home.......

All the rules they have and will put in place will be sufficiently contradictory as to allow for the justification of nearly any desired outcome.

Cynical? Yes.

True? Probably.
