Two issues with that. Firstly, no reason given and it seems to be purely because he's Somalian. That in itself is questionable policy from any country FIFA should have been considering as host.

Secondly, ok, that's the US position on immigration. It was their position yesterday, last week and last year. How the hell has it got to just three days before the event kicks off and allowed to happen? FIFA should have known or at least suspected, and had a backup plan in place, if for nothing else other than to save the embarrassment of one of their officials.

Or is there more to this? Did he arrive with a suitcase full of marching powder, or did he forget his bag of gold and sacrificial virgin to pay homage to the king of America?

Is a replacement on the way or are the officials actually allowed into the US going or be spread thinner? More games, more flights, less sleep, poorer decisions?

If the first few games are bore-fests then I can see this competition nose diving faster than Salah in the penalty area. Currently on record to be the worst world cup of all time, before a ball has even been kicked!

The first rumblings of the gathering storm? I get the impression this W.C. is going to be the biggest fuck-up since Bin Laden looked out of his bedroom window and said: "I wonder what these American Special Forces want at this time of night."

It's got Trump's fingerprints all over it, so you just know there will be some global unpleasantness somewhere along the line.
 
This tournament in the USA was always gonna be a money-based joke, now set to be a stage for Trump like the 1938 Olympics were for one Adolf.
My bet is that despite all these USA/Trump comments you lot will watch it anyways.
I probably will as well …

A creative kind a protest would be just watching the games being played in Canada. The only decent one of the three. But The Netherlands play their games at Dallas, Houston and Kansas (can’t get more American than that) before heading home again.

When will the PL fixtures be presented?
 
I'm watching this at the moment. Comedy history podcast about the World Cup.



Basically goes into how corrupt it's been literally from the start.
 
In my opinion the only games worth watching in the first phase are:
  • England v Croatia 17th June @ 21:00
  • Netherlands v Sweden 20th June @ 18:00
  • France v Norway 26th June @ 20:00
  • Spain v Uruguay 27th June @ 01:00
  • Portugal v Columbia 28th June @ 00:30
The last two I will not be staying up for and the rest of the 72 first phase matches are just not of any interest.

Many said that about the last 4 World Cups for different reasons. All of them turned out to be good.

This one will be no different.

Leading nations should have told FIFA to fuck off as soon as Infantino gave Trump the made up Peace Prize. And again when Iranian players were told they had to fly in and out of the USA for games rather than stay there. And again when they banned this Somali ref. And there will be more incidents of US dickheadedness over the next few weeks.
