Worried about the EDS

Yes.debut v Ctystal Palce August 1979 0-0 draw..He and Corrigan the only' ever presents'over the 42 game 1st Div season.
One of my fav players at the time...was still on apprentice wages at the time of his debut, can remember Shoot magazine doing a feature on him later that season when he signed pro forms and increased his wages to a then huge £400 per week.
1979/80 was not a great season for City.....
Was a shame that Caton, Ranson and Reid had to start in such a car crash of a team playing with players who should never have been City. Robinson, Silkman, Stepanovic, Lee, Shinton , Daley. It’s was telling however that when Bond came in and sorted out the mess, these 3 were excellent

Correct. John Bond was like The Messiah to me ..at the time..the way he transformed that team...and brought Gerry Gow, McDonald ,and Tommy Hutch..Brilliant, savy purchases...the cup runs were top notch.until Alf Grey and Ricky Villa intervened........

Genuine question, in the last 10 years how many players have come through our academy and gone on to play regular football at a decent level? Not including players who were only here for a couple of years like Sancho and Matondo.
No good leaving players like Sancho and Matondo out though, a lot of the Chelsea lads were bought from other academies too and that's what's being held up as the example to follow by most. Clubs like Southampton would be top of the pile if we are doing the kind of comparison you're alluding to.

Chelsea have only started using their youth in recent years and most of that was out of necessity rather than choice. They had a 5-6year head start on City with their investment drive at youth level too. City could be doing things better with what they have but some perspective is required compared to most top 6clubs at least.

Not worried a bit. The academy is producing quality players.

Today our U18 team smashed Liverpool's U18 at their ground 4:0. And that's without Delap who is injured.

Our U18s always do that, the problem is the jump to the EDS doesn't see the same results, hasn't for a few years now.

The worry is the team can get relegated and there is alot of great talent there.

I very much doubt that the drop in quality between the both levels of the PL2 is significant. Besides, they won't get relegated, too early to worry about that.

We are bottom of the table. Perhaps the quality doesn't drop much, but it drops and harms the reputation of the academy.

At the end of the day, it is worrisome for the academy that they are in this position, they must be better.

You’re kidding, John bond ruined Nicky Reid by signing his son and playing him instead. John Bond did not like Nicky Reid
