Sort of, although as far as attracting players goes, we still attracted Tevez, Adebayor, Robinho, Barry etc when we were a mid-table team, so if we finish 5th i'd imagine we'll still be in the hunt for some quality players that will no doubt improve us. I think it will be harder next season mind.

If Tottenham got 4th then it would be a complete disaster. As much as I dislike them they are a bloody well run club and they would be very difficult to dislodge from the top 4 if they got the extra windfall from the CL.

My point wasnt that we arent good enough, my point is we'd need substantial squad investment for us to have a chance of competing in all competitions.

If we got 4th then my concern like that of the Rags for years would be "sod the Carling Cup" and like Fergie, use other squad players.
Never seemed to do the Rags any harm as much as I dislike saying it.
Big names will still come, even as a worse case 5th position, to join the Sky Blue Revolution.
Europe can NOW see what we are about and how we intend to move quickly forward !!
