I was just considering the way reserves teams and City's EDS go about their games throughout the season. Having seen City pull out of the reserves league this season due to no consistency, would English football benefit from the top teams being able to play their reserves in lower leagues such as League 1 or 2 just like in Spain and Italy?

This would give the players selected for this team, the chance to play for their club against the lower opposition instead of sending them out to endless clubs on loans where it often does play off. It will also prevent clubs throwing away competitions such as the league cup by fielding their weaker/younger teams because those players will already be selected to play for the other team.

The problem would be City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Spurs would all definitely have B teams. That instantly dooms six lower league teams to relegation and financial losses. Then there are teams like Villa, Sunderland, and Newcastle who also have the personnel to field B teams just like Villarreal in Spain do. It'd be unfair on the lower league teams, the reserve league should be enough with better prospects loaned out.

just stop loans to the top two divisions

Then players like ade and bridge would have to go on loan to thw lower leagues helping then improve and young english players in the lower divs would have chance to play with better players

larger teams would have to be more careful when buying players knowing if they went out on loan they would have to continue paying all their wages etc

we may then have to put clauses in contracts with regards to being loaned out etc ie 40% pay if you are loaned to a 2nd div club or 30% if loaned out to 3rd div club

if the players agreed up front they would have to go out on loan

if they failed to agree no big contract in the first place

not easy to bring in but if all clubs went with it it could become a standard clause in all players contracts and would protect the clubs from stupid managers like Hughes buying crap players and putting them on stupid contracts

would certainly help lower league clubs and City in FFPR

I like the idea of a B team in the lower leagues, it could also help fans who want to see "City" but at a lower cost.

£10 adults, £5 kids played at Etihad or new training complex arena would see us get crowds of 10K plus.

As for the lower leagues, While 6 teams may end up getting displaced, the other teams would benefit in larger gate receipts for the vists of Spurs B, City B etc..

i quite don´t understand, why only some top clubs would form a B-Team. As a foreigner i may ask: Does not every PL-Club has a reserve team? To integrate all of them them into the league system would replace more than six teams.

of course i only have the experience of the german system, but noone wants to see B-Teams over here. They are a financial disaster für the lower leagues.

That's a good way to encourage all the top players in the world to refuse to come to England and insist on going to Spain or Italy instead...

Problem is, it's like the banking situation we have. Everyone hates how much money they get but if you start throttling that money you just get a talent drain to the other parts of Europe who will still offer them unlimited money and the result is that English football/banking becomes a 3rd class entity, all the money dries up, and English football fans/businesses turn to Europe or America for their sporting/financial interests. In order to make the country better off, you have to swallow the bitter pill of accepting an unfair situation.
