I was just considering the way reserves teams and City's EDS go about their games throughout the season. Having seen City pull out of the reserves league this season due to no consistency, would English football benefit from the top teams being able to play their reserves in lower leagues such as League 1 or 2 just like in Spain and Italy?
This would give the players selected for this team, the chance to play for their club against the lower opposition instead of sending them out to endless clubs on loans where it often does play off. It will also prevent clubs throwing away competitions such as the league cup by fielding their weaker/younger teams because those players will already be selected to play for the other team.
