We didn't win any silverware, But we got into say the quarter's or semi's of the champions league, come second in league but went out in the early round's of the domestic cup competitions. if not what would be a "failed" season.

but on the flip side what would mean a successful season i think

top 2 in the league

Domestic cup.

and a decent run the champions league quarter's maybe the semi's

what do you think ?

i think top 2 and retaining the fa cup,if we want to play with the big boys then we have to act like the big boys....

TBH, I think we should be aiming for the quarters of the champions league at least. Depends on serendipity really. Losing to either madrid, Barca or Chelsea is the more acceptable exits.

Top 2 in the league with a deserved placement.

Close to getting a domestic cup.

That would do it for me.

I don't think so, the minute we start thinking we've underachieved just because we haven't won a cup is the day we become Chelsea and start sacking managers for not winning a trophy...

Personally the hardest and most challenging thing for us to do this season is to retain a top 4 spot most teams that have broke into the top 4 have failed to do it the season after...

Nothing less than a title challenge is acceptable in my opinion

We need to win something, even if it's just the league cup and obviously we have to finish in a automatic champions league place.

We have to be careful, if we are to build for the future we need stability. I have a horrible feeling that sitting in 4th, with an early exit from the fa cup in January will lead to mass panic and calls for the manager to go.

Signal new manager, new request for players, and a lot more over paid under used players on the sidelines.

Then again I am a pessimist, not sure why!

How we compete in the CL will be very important. Sustained title challenge till the end of the season (winning it would be nice, but I would be happy with 3rd again if we took it right down to the wire), would love to defend our FA Cup, and would be great to see the kids do well in the Carling cup.

However the CL will be key in raising our global profile, and the only clubs I would be happy getting knocked out of that competition to are Barcelona or Real Madrid. If we topple either of those teams on our route through the competition our profile will explode, and the knock on effect will be far more than a few good column inches.

Unfortunately I still don't think that first Premier League win will come this season. I think Chelsea are being quietly (and wrongly) forgotten about, and the rags are the rags, they'll be fighting till the bitter end. Every team has results go for and against them over the season but there were a few too many times we got through by the skin of our teeth. We need to create more chances and put more away. And hopefully if we learn to do that without everything going through Tevez and Silva we won't look so bloody clueless when we have to play without either.
