totally hypothetical and not now of course but say uwe spends the next 5 or so years proving himself in the lower leagues gets a couple of promotions with a couple of clubs, its time for him to make the step up to the premier league and the city manager position comes up for whatever reason. there are far more experienced and successful managers either avalible or who are willing to leave their club who would you go for?

to have a hero as manager at all is a bit of an emotional risk anyway if he's successful i'd feel even happier that it's under him, but if unsuccessful it could ruin his city legacy and there's always the 'insert manager here' out brigade i don't think i'd ever like to see city 'fans' screaming for uwe's head

Did well in the Norwegian Premiership, although the owners didnt really fancy him. Mainly because of his strong character.

Was usually signed by the struggling sides to keep them in the top division, something he always managed to do.

Great question and one I am really struggling to answer. Would love Uwe back at the club but he is unproven as yet. Imagine a Management team of Uwe, Goat and Dickov all 3 love the club and all 3 want to manage, who would you have as boss and who as coaches..??

uwe strikes me as the brains so of those three i'd stick him as manager dickov as a motivational coach and though i love him i doubt goater would cut it i think his personality is more suited to ambassador/CITC

Hey if he became proven as a manager then maybe as an assistant initially?
where this club is going we need someone who is proven at Champs League level tactically and man management.

But the scenario I wouldn't want to see is if a former player who is considered a legend here wasn't a success, many fans turning on Uwe and his reputation is then ruined.

Not for me, I wouldn't want his reputation tarnished if things didn't work out.
I never could forgive Big Mal for what he did to our club, even with the memory of what we achieved under his and Joe Mercer's guidance

If he progressed and proved he deserved a shot at it, then why not.

Same with Franny and his time as chairman. His reputation among supporters became tainted.

Though he will always be my all-time favourite player

Depends completely how he does in the lower leagues. I wouldn't say no to Paul Lambert right now. He has proved himself to be tactically astute and a good motivator and thus moved up the leagues quickly. If Uwe had similar success then yes, his history with the club would be a bonus, but shouldn't mean he would come in instead of a manager who is "more qualified", we are too big a club to be risking it with unproven managers.

Vieira on the other hand is a big enough name to step right in and do well if he is good enough tactically, it's a shame we don't have a B team to groom him like Guardiola and Enrique at Barca....Maybe he could be number 2 for a while?

....just a tad premature - this is like asking me whether I would buy a chicken kebab as I have a soft spot for a rather nice egg, whether I would try the frogs legs as I like the look of this particular tadpole, whether the fun playful nature of this kitten means that I will love pussy.....

Would love to see him, the Goat and Ali back at the club, but Christ knows in what capacity!
