Europa may be a pointless trophy......but no fucker remembers runners up no matter how big the tournement, a loser is a loser be it first round or final, second is know where for me apart from a day out

So the second option for me....winners are remembered

I am a Bayern fan and I survived four lost CL finals by now - I somehow cannot remember 82 anymore when I was 13 - I do not know why. 1987 against Porto when we lead 1:0 through Wiggerl Kögl and lost by two goals in the 77th and 80th minute. 99 is well known as a similar case with Manchester United, just more drama as it happened in the last minutes + overtime. 2010 against Inter was not that devasting - nobody really expected that team to go so far and Inter was just too strong in their way and Bayern too naive. And 2012 when a lot just had the feeling of loosing when Müller was put out of the match and Drogba scored - just that this nightmare took a lot longer.

No - loosing in a final is nothing to wish for. You came so far through the competition and could not take the last step. I guess going out in the stages before is a lot better... (or winning it)

Winning something is good - but actually - one step after the other... Start with the group stage...
