WSL Man Utd (H) 19/01/25

Another one bites the dust.....

Alannah Kennedy is off to pastures new. Done OK for us as a stop gap but unfortunately not good enough on the ball or press resistant enough. That goal against Polton was a fantastic strike, good luck Alannah.

Alannah Kennedy leaves City

There's also a bit of a shortage of top coaches in the women's game. This will hopefully change in the next 5 years as we see the first generation of people who played pro retire and move into coaching. But we also have a serious problem in England that cost of achieving a UEFA license is ridiculously expensive when compared to other countries.
Respectfully, what does this have to do with anything? In America, they hire foreign coaches. Some other WSL teams have foreign coaches. Nothing says City needs to have an English manager.

For the men's team, you'd have to go all the way back to Pearce (I'm not counting Kidd as he only was in the position for one month) in 2005. City clearly doesn't care if it's teams have English managers. But, for some reason, they are loyal as fuck to Taylor.

I was just responding to a question about who we should or could approach and I was just stating that there is a shortage of top coaches in the women's game full stop. Hence why Arsenal were left stuck after putting all of the eggs in one basket with Nick Cushing earlier in the season. Luckily for them their interim coach has done well enough for them save face and just let her continue in the role. I think it's an interesting add-on that it's ridiculously expensive for people in the UK to do their badges too.

Ok. I suppose we have a different view on what the club considers the women's team to be, or should be, in the scheme of things. That is ok.

I enjoy MCWFC and would like to see them to be able to rival any women's team in the world. And, in my opinion, the club is happy with them having nice facilities (especially compared to some other women's clubs who don't even have showers and changing rooms) to keep up appearsnces and being "good enough" in football competitions.

I don't think we differ at all on those things! I've been pretty vocal in my frustration with the club having been complacent around the women's team. But, as I've mentioned before, I think they have upped their game a lot these past couple of years. Recruitment has improved, player retention has been amazing and the backroom appointments seem ambitious. The main problems that remain are that I don't think our coach is good enough and we've also lost so much ground on Chelsea in that time it's hard to catch up (particularly when it comes to strength in depth)

Still not over how shite this was last week.

I think it would be easier to organise an "ultras" type group in the women's game than the men's, and they need to be in a block singing as it was shite getting stick from the United fans for the whole game.

Shite night all round.
