WSL - WHU (A) Tue 05/03 KO 19:00

We have twice as many points as WH, they have a negative GD and Villa are worse. If ever there was a home banker it should be this one, but I fancy we will be faced with 60-odd% possession, twice as many passes as Villa, same number of shots on target, and the usual trek through treacle.
Probably. At least the kick off is at a decent time and the weather is starting to warm up a bit.

A disappointing match, we didn't force the breakthrough in the first half, and neither did West Ham ..... not much for either keeper to do.

It was just a matter of closing the game down correctly after we'd finally taken the lead through Bunny Shaw with only ten minutes left on the clock, but some of our players looked tired and offered no challenge to the West Ham player that strode through to equalise ... it was very poor defending.

Maybe it was a fair result though, I just don't think we did enough to win the game over the 90+ minutes, and neither did they.

Look the Women's game should have Women managers, its simple.
Yes have a male football director or fitness or technical coaches But Male managers in the Women's game is not right
Would the men's game allow Women Managers at the big clubs ? Let's get it right here.

Manchester City should have a woman manager and the best out there
I’d be interested in reading alternative views on it too but as it stands, I think I probably agree with that.

Not disagreeing but this one is all on the players. They’ve absolutely shit the bed.

You could see within the first 30 mins, there was no balance.

Yes, the players are on the pitch, but they can only play with who the manager selects and there was no creativity as there was no striker to target the ball forward to.

We see similar when Guardiola only selects midfielders.

There was not much cohesion today, and the back four and midfield just just seemed sluggish and disjointed. The selection just didn't work well together--at least through the first 30 minutes of the 2nd half that I caught.

I don't personally think all managers in women's football HAVE to be women, but they do have to understand that women's football is different and they do have to be of the right disposition to manage an entirely female workforce. If its someone who just sees the women's game as a stepping stone to the men's or thinks they can treat adult women in the same way they might treat boys in an academy side, then it doesn't work. I think it's usually, but not exclusively, female coaches that meet the above criteria. I think there are examples of male coaches who have managed to foster good relationships with their squads and done well in the game (e.g. Matt Beard, Nils Nielsen). However for every Matt Beard there are 10 guys failing upwards.

My own preference would be for a woman to coach us next as I want to be see more women being given opportunities in the game and I think it would also be a good lift for the squad for a woman to come in after 5 years of Taylor treating them like kids. We have a woman CEO and DoF working above him so I just don't know how he's still getting away with his nonsense tbh.

With the professional game still being relatively young, there still isn't loads of female coaches out there with top level experience. I think this will improve now we have a generation of women who have played pro retiring and moving into coaching.
