I don't personally think all managers in women's football HAVE to be women, but they do have to understand that women's football is different and they do have to be of the right disposition to manage an entirely female workforce. If its someone who just sees the women's game as a stepping stone to the men's or thinks they can treat adult women in the same way they might treat boys in an academy side, then it doesn't work. I think it's usually, but not exclusively, female coaches that meet the above criteria. I think there are examples of male coaches who have managed to foster good relationships with their squads and done well in the game (e.g. Matt Beard, Nils Nielsen). However for every Matt Beard there are 10 guys failing upwards.
My own preference would be for a woman to coach us next as I want to be see more women being given opportunities in the game and I think it would also be a good lift for the squad for a woman to come in after 5 years of Taylor treating them like kids. We have a woman CEO and DoF working above him so I just don't know how he's still getting away with his nonsense tbh.
With the professional game still being relatively young, there still isn't loads of female coaches out there with top level experience. I think this will improve now we have a generation of women who have played pro retiring and moving into coaching.
