You pay for the quality of production y'see. Never had a problem with mine but had many happy gaming moments :')
When given a choice over reliability the Japanese tend to beat the Americans at this sort of thing. All of my friends bought Xbox 360s as soon as they came out whilst I waited for my PS3. To date I know of at least 10 people who have had this exact same thing happen. So they had to send their consoles back for repairs.
I feel my loyalty was rewarded, can't beat free online play.

sure that's not the 3 red lights? microsoft did offer extended warranty for that specific error.
