This is what pisses me of with us when we buy a supposed top young Brazilian we fcuk em of straight away!

I predict we won’t see him at city in our team Ever.

If our previous is anything to go buy, he’ll bounce around on loan for a few seasons then be sold for a decent profit

I doubt he’ll ever be in a City shirt but I hope I’m wrong and he does turn out to be a top player for us

And it happens again.

What is the point of loaning these players to second rate teams in low quality leagues?

I know we have invested in teams such as Girona, but unless they are in a good competitive league (such as La Liga) it really isn't worthwhile, as has been proved over the past 5 years or so by the lack of progression of any player loaned out - with the exception of Angelino who we unfortunately will not give a chance and will be let go on the cheap.

AAARRRRGGGGGHHHHH! So frustrating.

Interesting. City apparently promised him that he would not go out on loan. (his own words). Pretty poor to break on that promise IMO.

Barca and Bayern promised him first team spot. Pretty rough if true.
We announced the signing on March 1st. Would have to imagine those conversations were had before the pandemic and the entire preseason was cancelled? Not an excuse really but my guess is that's what changed the plans.

Edit: Or maybe it was Cancelo's last minute swing into Pep's good graces at the end of the season. It's pretty poor either way.

Profit probably, but decent - this is often not the case compared to if the loan spells were at a higher standard of club/league to begin with.

And here come all the “we never give youth players a chance” moaners. Nobody knows what’s happened for him to go out on loan, we haven’t even seen him play. I know Girona doing well is good for the CFG but if he was anywhere near the quality required to be in our squad he’d be getting a better loan deal than the Spanish second division. Pep has obviously sanctioned it so he mustn’t have been anywhere in his plans this season therefore it’s much better he’s playing somewhere and it’s helping the CFG too.

Has pep had a look at him as in at our training camp because don’t know if Pep is even back at city yet.

I think your edited point has a lot to do with the decision and also Cancelo looks a lot more settled now than a few months back, when it appeared he wanted to move on.

This was my mindset 12 months ago now I feel if they announce a young player we should announce it as the Man City football group has bought this player and we will find him a home in one of our lesser clubs.

It was Pep himself who convinced him to sign and City promised first team spot for him as he was going to Barca. So the club basically lied to him to get him to sign. Thats not good at all.

Things change in life, as I am sure he is very aware. Talk of it putting players off in the future etc is just pure nonsense.

Again, nobody knows what’s actually happened. do you really believe the club are going around telling young players we guarantee them first team spots only to go back on it completely the second they sign as a tactic to get them in? They’re not intentionally doing that, Circumstances change, the worlds turned to chaos since he signed.

The quality of the team he’s being loaned to should tell you everything about whether he’s currently at our level or not.

I think you're absolutely deluded if you think that Agents won't be reminding their player of this the next time Pep phones up a big prospect with offers from a bunch of top clubs in Europe and promises he will be in the first team squad and not loaned out.

The Denayer and Angelino situations won't be far behind.

I seems like the club is starting to develop a very bad habit of breaking its word to young players, and in a hyper competitive market where City have pretty much no track record of success with these signings unlike Madrid, Juventus etc. it will turn some players away.

Wow, how do you know what’s happened since? What conversations have taken place?
What if the kid was told he’d get used in the League Cup & nothing else, so he then asked for a loan to further his development?

Only the player & the club know what’s occurred, so maybe you’re right & it’s not good....or maybe, just maybe, both parties thought it was the best thing to do for the next 12 months?

I think you're absolutely deluded if you think that agents will be stopping clients moving to one of the biggest clubs in the world because of some comments made by the now infamous, Yan Couto. I think Txiki will be reminding them just what they stand to lose out on if they want to start playing those games. Most agents aren't arsed if X signs for City or Madrid, they want their cut of the fee and thats it.
I am sure Pep is in tatters and won't be able to get a job in the future because he spoke to a young lad and said he likes the look of him but lets see how things go.

Hes been in training for a couple weeks, perhaps its not worked out and hes asked to get a year out playing all the time to prove himself.

You talk as if you have been privy to the conversations going on between Pep and these players. Things change in life.
What promises have been broken to young players?
We do better than pretty much everyone, we bring in youngsters and provide them with a platform that pretty much no other clubs can offer and if they don't make it then theres a very high chance they are sold to play in one of the top leagues in Europe. Thats business.

As for those two clubs you mention, the great Real Madrid, the club which promised the world to Brahim and hes done fuck all but be pals with Bale on the bench and now been booted to Milan. Why wont the great spanish club look after their young lads?!?

Juventus, can't say I can think of any decent youth prospects they have signed recently. In fact, we recently swapped one of our players for one of their best ones and hes gone to Girona as well. The tragedy!

When do the new loan rules begin. I thought the maximum was to be 8.
We must have much more than that out and about.
We do not know what has been discussed, and people have no idea the outcome or development of these players. It is up to them to progress. We cannot and will not throw untried and unproven youngsters in.
Ffs, international with 50 caps and 200 appearances get crucified on here, youngsters have no chance.
Remember the shit, zinchenko got. ( Should never be near the squad , etc)
