Yaya Toure - 2016/17 performances

Exactly, I will not be applauding him, as I didn't applaud Tevez after his debacle. Ok YaYa scored yesterday but who's to say that someone else wouldn't have scored if YaYa hadn't been there. We will never know, yesterday has gone, next week he may play against Burnley and do his usual YaYa walk about like a stranded Bushbuck or he may still be trying to repay some of the money we've been pouring in for him to mess us about. We shall see.

Given the way we've been wasting chances, i'm pretty certain we wouldn't have won that game without Yaya. He's another goal threat in the side, taking a bit of the focus away from De Bruyne and Aguero which will be invaluable for the rest of the season.

I don't know about "another goal threat in the side", yesterday he was pretty much the only goal threat, as once again our other attacking players looked out of form again.

Yaya is a great option to bring in before and after Champions League games. He will not travel in Europe and so will be fresh.

I thought he was done but he can still have a role to play. It would have been a shameful waste to sit out one of the last seasons of his career because of his stupid agent.

Very good from Yaya, i'll judge a man on his actions and yesterday he redeemed himself a little. Keep Seluk quiet and work hard, that is what i want from him, no upset caused, just hard work on the pitch.

With his age and size we really do have to look at using him in a surgical manor, his thighs are huge, cold weather , not much game time, recipe for a pulled muscle.

He was actually tracking opposition players and making an effort yesterday. He looks leaner and fitter.
I'm baffled as to why he thought it was acceptable to allow himself to get out of condition and offer such little commitment previously.
At least he knows now that in no uncertain terms, a repeat of hands on hips watching players run past him will result in another sabbatical.

Yeah I agree with you there, he was the only player that looked like scoring. With everyone in form he would usually be 'another goal threat' but like you say, the others don't look like scoring at the moment.

He certainly had the potential and credentials to be one of our best ever players.
As with a lot of footballers though, outside influences play a part. They then become a flawed genius that just frustrates the fans. Whether it's Rodney Marsh, Cantona, Gascoigne, balotelli, whoever.
It could be drinking, gambling, women, an inflated sense of self importance or something else. Something always seems to get in the way of forming a legacy and taints it. They become "match of the day" players. Fantastic in a montage of eye catching highlights but not so impressive when you look at the bigger picture.
They become the player that has obvious talent but also come with some baggage.

Yaya is a great addition to this squad now that he has apologised and regained his fitness I hope he can add more goals and keep us dresh in midfield.
He is a hero, his agents a tw@ end of.

There'll be a lot of managers around the league shitting themselves after his performance yesterday.

Knowing we now have a plan b if and when we need it, and that plan b is the most dominating goal scoring midfielder of the past decade.

He'll turn 8 or more games for us this year with goals and that's something Kev doesn't seem to do much, Silva never has and even Kun can't be relied upon.

What an option to have and allow rest for Gundogan and Fernandinho when needed. It also hopefully shunts Fernando down the pecking order.

I was watching a bit on the BBC website 'everybody's talking about Yaya'. Just a little bit showing BBC reactions to him scoring. The guys on the Final Score studio were all clapping and laughing when he scored.

So you think "he'll turn 8 or more games for us this year with goals"? I think your expectations are too high there mate.

He scored 8 times last season including 2 penalties from his 47 appearances. Of those you could argue he turned the game twice - so 2 times from 47 games.

The last couple of seasons 14/15 and 15/16 he has only scored a couple more than Silva in the league.

Last season was such an anomaly that if we're giving clean slates to Kun, Kev & the rest, then we have to afford the same to Yaya.

If he can come off the bench 8 times and swing games, that will be phenomenal for us.

A world beater when he's in the mood, a lot like Nasri and Balotelli in that respect. Fucking shit when not up for it. Stroking it round yesterday like a conductor.

You've changed your tune and are now saying something completely different. You were talking about turning games with goals before and he has hardly done that at all since he came back from ANC in 2014/2015.

Maybe you are reading it wrongly, but what I've said in both posts is consistent.

Let's see how it goes.

worst post of the day..

Points to note; make of these whatever you wish:

1. Yaya Toure's form declined primarily because he was being played in most games last season. I personally remember the cup match against Everton where even a blind man could tell he was knackered
2. Pep has absolute control over his team and this will definitely help to ensure
that nobody including KDB and Sergio play all games regardless of any circumstances
3. Lately we had been playing nicely but finishing poorly
4. It was highly unlikely that anyone else bar Aguero would've scored so basically we were looking likely to have another
Everton/Boro/Saints match repeat
5. I never expected him to get any credit from many of our fans. When he was playing well last season, he still got slated so when his form dipped criticizing him became a no-brainer. And because a) people usually remember the more recent events better than older one and b) we got told day in day out, Yaya is finished, lazy, useless, etc by some fans, it seemed like Yaya had done nothing all season to the extent that people began to blame Yaya for every wrong Hart, Sagna, Kolarov, Ferns, Delph, Silva, KDB, Sterling, Aguero, Navas did
6. I trust Pep to use Yaya optimally in a way that would bring the best out of the team

Yaya scores just, er, Yaya-type goals. Whenever we needed a goal up would pop Yaya and there was a goal of some individuality.
