Sounds good in theory, but in practice, we had this issue with Tevez.

If we leave him out of CL, we end up with with a disgruntled player who is losing value by the day and causing unrest in the squad.
If we keep playing him, we basically have to hope he plays well to sell himself to potential suitors.
Potential suitors know the situation and use it to drive his price down. It shifts the balance of power in their favour (not totally, but it does shift a bit).

We're under FFP scrutiny, so despite the Sheik's wealth, we still need to try and maximise his value (either in a sale, or on pitch performances). It's annoying, but player power is quite strong these days. He knows it too, which is why he's chosen to go down this path.

He is disgrunteld now so what have we got to loose

We wont be loosing any value providing he is playing in the league so if his performances are good then his value will remain - if they are shite he gets less chance of a move

FFP presumably we were always going to buy players so dont see the issue he is still available for league games

We had lots of issues with Tevez BUT he never won came back to the club and played the 6 ish games or so and did very well AND THEN we let him go

Sorry we cant loose this one

I think we mostly agree, but a disgruntled player stirring up trouble never increases in value. It gives the buying club more leverage since they know deep down, we want to move him on.

If he was as happy as larry, and (say) Barca came in for him, they'd have to offer a fortune to convince us to sell.
If he's stirring up trouble, they know that we'll settle for less, because we WANT to move him on. That doesn't mean we'll let him go for next to nothing, but they won't have to go the extra mile to persuade us, which will result in a lower fee.

And what I'm saying about FFP is that with 'only' (said respectfully) 49 million to spend on transfers, if we sell a player on, we will be looking to squeeze the max value out of them. If we didn't have that budget constraint on us, we might not be so concerned. This season, in particular, is not a great season for players to be asking for pay increases, or playing silly buggers angling for a move.

I suspect one way around it, might be for City to defer pay rises until next year (but agree them in advance). Depends if FFP will allow for that.

At 31 his price is at its highest now after last season in the current transfer market at 30M i think its a bargain but personally i dont think its Barca - more likely to be Chelski

Realistically his price will drop over the next two years due to a combination of him getting older and his contract running down - just get rid now

Teams have to evolve and the best teams do this all the time - i think we did a top top transfer window last summer - this is not a team of one man he is a brillant man but he wont be here forever so lets belly up and get on with it

Man City is our club and players and manager move on but only we the fans and the club remain the constants

Re: Yaya Toure

Just watched the interview, there's not much in there. Apparently it was done before the uproar too. Anyway not much wrong with what he said, he talked about retiring at Barcelona. Well he can do because he will have given us his best years :)

Re: Yaya Toure

Not sure that we can compare this to the Tevez situation.

Tevez fell outwith Mancini

Yaya, with the help of his agent, has seemingly fallen out with everyone at City from the tea lady upwards as well as English football generally and the media .

If he has (or it is perceived by our owners that he has) disrespected them then there is only 1 outcome. He must be sold.

After the season we have just had, all in it "together" this is dissappointing to say the fucking least

He doesnt actually slag CITY off at all, just says everyhting is up for grabs.
It does look like he's angling for a move, but nothing about a lack of respect from the club & nothing about a cake.

His agent really has made a fucking mountain out of this.

He said "The future is open" what else does he mean

The total lack of respect is firstly doing this shit in public, then supporting his arsehole agent and having only just signed a new deal and the best he can come up with is a fucking cake

There is fuck all up for grabs as he has a contract and i feel sure City would not want to sell so the only person pushing for this is Yaya and his agent

He has been saying "the future is open" for his entire tenure at City. Not sure if you can give that statement alone much weight. He's also been saying "I would return to Barcelona" for his entire tenure at City. This is nothing new.

Re: Yaya Toure

If he doesn't drop his agent after what is probably the most unprofessional childish fiasco in player handling history, then he really is unworthy of anything but distaste and ridicule for the rest of his playing career and beyond. Forever the Birthday Boy.

Would be so interested to know what the likes of VK, Zabba and others make of all this and whether texts have been exchanged?

Re: Yaya Toure

I think it's true that in time, fans DID start to see the Munich affair a little differently and eventually came be believe it really was just a comedy of errors (where none of us were laughing). But we still knew that Tevez and Kia were constantly playing games, and it spoilt what could / would have been a beautiful relationship with Carlos.

But my overall point is that fans are fickle and once a player starts scoring for us, our loathing diminished rapidly. I think Yaya will forever be tainted by this, we don't forget this stuff, but we won't be calling for his head if he's banging goals in for us again. We'll just use it as ammo when his performance drops.

I'm gonna drop this **** right where he stands, if I ever bump into him.

They don't call me the one-punch king of Mere for no reason.

I will then allow the goz from my full-blown raspberry to drip across his eyes.

On a serious note, he's a twat who should be out the door by the end of the month.

Go get this lad Carvalho, everyone is saying he is the new Yaya?

Is that you're opinion or what the clukb are trying to do?

Just me venting, bud.

I will say this, City will not wait for the World Cup for Toure (as I will now always refer to him).

Yaya is no more. I have told my three year old girl she can no longer call her beloved Sally Seahorse after Yaya.

As long as she could speak, she won't go anywhere without her Yaya.

Perhaps Toure can one day digest what a prick he has been and realise the impact he had on the lives of plenty of people who idolised him.

Re: Yaya Toure

Despite all of the commentary, here and elsewhere, I haven't heard Yaya Toure say a single disrespectful thing about Manchester City. And, quite frankly, neither have any of you.

Strange but true.

I agree entirely on this.

I just think he could have disclosed his desire to leave behind closed doors and helped us get the best price for him, AND kept his reputation high. The way he's gone about it can't add to his value, it can only diminish it, and his reputation's tarnished in the process.

We'd have to get rid of him in 2 years time anyway as you suggest. It would just have been nice to be able to plan for succession!

We will see because i doubt Barca will take a 34 year old player which is how old he will be when his current contract runs out i seriously doubt that City expected him to want to up sticks and leave within 12 months of signing it

It was only a few weeks ago he was talking about how we need to improve our CL performances next year

Sorry but there is a way way better way than doing this - when Rooney pulled this a few years ago we were pissing ourselves but to be honest at least he did not have his agent spounting crap all over the TV and this is far worse

If he want to go then say it man up and be honest this disrespect shit is just poor really poor because if he was at least honest i think most City fans would give him the benefit of the doubt
