Re: Yaya Toure
At 31 his price is at its highest now after last season in the current transfer market at 30M i think its a bargain but personally i dont think its Barca - more likely to be Chelski
Realistically his price will drop over the next two years due to a combination of him getting older and his contract running down - just get rid now
Teams have to evolve and the best teams do this all the time - i think we did a top top transfer window last summer - this is not a team of one man he is a brillant man but he wont be here forever so lets belly up and get on with it
Man City is our club and players and manager move on but only we the fans and the club remain the constants

If we leave him out of CL, we end up with with a disgruntled player who is losing value by the day and causing unrest in the squad.
If we keep playing him, we basically have to hope he plays well to sell himself to potential suitors.
Potential suitors know the situation and use it to drive his price down. It shifts the balance of power in their favour (not totally, but it does shift a bit).
We're under FFP scrutiny, so despite the Sheik's wealth, we still need to try and maximise his value (either in a sale, or on pitch performances). It's annoying, but player power is quite strong these days. He knows it too, which is why he's chosen to go down this path.
He is disgrunteld now so what have we got to loose
We wont be loosing any value providing he is playing in the league so if his performances are good then his value will remain - if they are shite he gets less chance of a move
FFP presumably we were always going to buy players so dont see the issue he is still available for league games
We had lots of issues with Tevez BUT he never won came back to the club and played the 6 ish games or so and did very well AND THEN we let him go
Sorry we cant loose this one
I think we mostly agree, but a disgruntled player stirring up trouble never increases in value. It gives the buying club more leverage since they know deep down, we want to move him on.
If he was as happy as larry, and (say) Barca came in for him, they'd have to offer a fortune to convince us to sell.
If he's stirring up trouble, they know that we'll settle for less, because we WANT to move him on. That doesn't mean we'll let him go for next to nothing, but they won't have to go the extra mile to persuade us, which will result in a lower fee.
And what I'm saying about FFP is that with 'only' (said respectfully) 49 million to spend on transfers, if we sell a player on, we will be looking to squeeze the max value out of them. If we didn't have that budget constraint on us, we might not be so concerned. This season, in particular, is not a great season for players to be asking for pay increases, or playing silly buggers angling for a move.
I suspect one way around it, might be for City to defer pay rises until next year (but agree them in advance). Depends if FFP will allow for that.
