Yaya Toure

You can't compare then with now imho, the players play on carpets these days, they played in bogs back then, and still looked class. You can also add players like Doyle Oakes and Book, all great players of their time
As much as i love modern football, i felel like i was born in the wrong generation. It took supreme skill and balls in those days

Genuine question for those lucky enouh to see bell, summerbee, lee etc play, were any of them on the level of yaya, serg, david, carlitos or even joe or vinnie?
bell was top of all those listed only ya ya gets close, lee and tevez were like for like,in, style but lee was better imo, vinnie is as good a centre half as we have ever had only doyle and watson came close, silver is a fantastic player but his lack of goals keeps him down the list, nobody knows where the net is like sergio ,but bell was doing what yaya does and scoring goals , hart is a good goalkeeper but we have been blessed with great keepers bert, swift ,joe corrigan, not one of the modern day players come close to summerbee as it is a position,we have struggled to fill for years,he was a terrific winger who could also play striker, just my onions of course,

Speaking of "balls", most modern players wouldn't be able to play with the balls they used in those days either, another reason that any comparison is impossible imho.

Enjoy what we have now, its good, even if this season isn't going completely to plan. I have memories from then which I also treasure, and I feel very lucky to have seen both, I even feel lucky to have seen the shite we played in the late 90's, because no matter what some people say, it makes this time feel even more special to be part of it.

Again, you're basing it on now when he's passed his best. In his prime he was anything but inconsistent. For what it's worth, he's been better and more consistent than Silva this season though...
I agree about previous seasons.

But now his legs have gone and he's not mobile enough. he's quality on the ball, but if you can't sprint how do you escape defenders and how do you close players down when we don't have the ball?

City's game revolves around him so his dip in form has massively affected our play.

Just my opinion. Others will have their own view.

We had some great players this past decade who brought alot to our table; Silva, Aguero, Tevez, Komps, etc. But none of them compares to the Yaya's influence and game-changing ability. I don't think we can make a fair comparison to the older City legends. Albeit he may not be same he was this season, this man is probably the best we've seen in recent times.

Yaya is a world class footballer and we have been so lucky to have had him during his peak years..

The 2 games that have stood out out for me were Palace away a couple of seasons ago and Newcastle away when we first won the league.

He won both games for us on his own, in particular the Palace game, this was after coming back from 2 weeks out with a hamstring injury,an incredible performance.

David Silva is a great player but he is not a match winner and never will be..

I have lost count of the number of games Yaya has won for us..

All those who slag him off now that he is a little older, should hang there head in shame.

A City legend and simply the best player ever to wear a City shirt..
