Yaya Toure

bell was top of all those listed only ya ya gets close, lee and tevez were like for like,in, style but lee was better imo, vinnie is as good a centre half as we have ever had only doyle and watson came close, silver is a fantastic player but his lack of goals keeps him down the list, nobody knows where the net is like sergio ,but bell was doing what yaya does and scoring goals , hart is a good goalkeeper but we have been blessed with great keepers bert, swift ,joe corrigan, not one of the modern day players come close to summerbee as it is a position,we have struggled to fill for years,he was a terrific winger who could also play striker, just my onions of course,

Good post. Silva,s lack of goals has always annoyed me.a player with that amount of ability who is not scoring 20 goals a season has let himself down. i will never forgive david for his wasteful finishing arsenal at home when we lost 3-1 but at 0-0 silva had a easy chance in the box, just beneath the south stand.he bottled it.i couldn,t believe it/i ve rarely seen a more graceful football player than david silva, merlin the magician ,fantastic to watch, dribbling ability to die for, touch and control of a football ...remember everton away in the league a couple of seasons ago..a really high ball was played to silva in the 6 yard area,he brought it down out of the sky with one sublime touch...lots of fantastic memeories, but the inability of this player to transform wonderful talent into goals, means that i would always choose yaya over david,if i had to,in a discusssion re best player of a generation.
For anybody who thinks i may have been over critical of the wizzard, let me just mention the headed goal silva scored, for spain v scotland, from the edge of the 6 yard box...such a deft controlled header, it stopped me in my tracks and i thought wow!..but for me,yaya toure at his best was just top class central midfield play, sometimes deep central midfield, but always goals.and in big matches too.got to be yaya.

Fuck me, the David Silva love-in. The guy is absolutely brilliant at football and passing and stuff. He's not brilliant at scoring goals though and ergo will never be a great of the game. Sure, he's been great for us but come on, the best?

The compilation of Yaya's goals, passes and dribbling ability is simply mind-blowing. It's the combination of sheer power, pace and technique which made him so unique and is the whole reason why us City fans fell in love with him. I don't think there's a player in world football that I've ever seen that's been as capable of producing such stunning solo goals and moments of pure match winning magic in terms of variety of goals and passes and I know coming from me that will shock a lot of posters.

To me though he's always been and will always be what I class as a "highlights/youtube" player, capable of moments that are truly stunning but ruthlessly exposed over 90 minutes off the ball in terms of tactical awareness, effort, team work and just that competitive spirit and fight when things aren't going so well for the team.

I kind of agree with that. On pure talent, he's one of the best players ever to play in the Premier League. But I think that a player of his talent should have scored far more goals than he has. He had that one season where he was incredible and scored 24, but the rest of the time, he's been around the 10 mark. In his six seasons in the Premier League, he's had four (including this season so far) where he's scored just 6 league goals, which for a player of his talent and shooting ability is a little disappointing.

Having said that, I think he usually leaves huge hole when he's injured. We struggle to spread the ball as quickly or easily without him. His range of passing and vision is incredible.

We've been blessed with some great players over the last few years, Silva, Aguero, Kompany and to a slightly lesser extent Hart but None of them can determine the outcome of a game like Yaya.

Thank you for the memories. Yaya Toure, he might not be the best 'person' but he is to my mind the best footballer to ever pull on a City shirt.

Watching that highlight video makes you realise how good and direct as a team we were and how poor we now are.

it was crap.absolute crap.goodnight.

It's a fucking depressing state of affairs when our fans are snidely describing appreciation for one of our finest ever players as a "love-in". Some Blues just prefer him as a player to Yaya, what's the big deal?

"He's not brilliant at scoring goals though and ergo will never be a great of the game." That's a load of toss as well.

If you think Yaya is the best then fantastic, I'm really happy for you. I just don't understand why people are openly criticising other players just to try and validate themselves.
