bell was top of all those listed only ya ya gets close, lee and tevez were like for like,in, style but lee was better imo, vinnie is as good a centre half as we have ever had only doyle and watson came close, silver is a fantastic player but his lack of goals keeps him down the list, nobody knows where the net is like sergio ,but bell was doing what yaya does and scoring goals , hart is a good goalkeeper but we have been blessed with great keepers bert, swift ,joe corrigan, not one of the modern day players come close to summerbee as it is a position,we have struggled to fill for years,he was a terrific winger who could also play striker, just my onions of course,
Good post. Silva,s lack of goals has always annoyed me.a player with that amount of ability who is not scoring 20 goals a season has let himself down. i will never forgive david for his wasteful finishing arsenal at home when we lost 3-1 but at 0-0 silva had a easy chance in the box, just beneath the south stand.he bottled it.i couldn,t believe it/i ve rarely seen a more graceful football player than david silva, merlin the magician ,fantastic to watch, dribbling ability to die for, touch and control of a football ...remember everton away in the league a couple of seasons ago..a really high ball was played to silva in the 6 yard area,he brought it down out of the sky with one sublime touch...lots of fantastic memeories, but the inability of this player to transform wonderful talent into goals, means that i would always choose yaya over david,if i had to,in a discusssion re best player of a generation.
For anybody who thinks i may have been over critical of the wizzard, let me just mention the headed goal silva scored, for spain v scotland, from the edge of the 6 yard box...such a deft controlled header, it stopped me in my tracks and i thought wow!..but for me,yaya toure at his best was just top class central midfield play, sometimes deep central midfield, but always goals.and in big matches too.got to be yaya.
