What criteria are you measuring "best"? and do you mean best midfielder, as Joe, Komps for example have been as equal contributors to our successes
Everyone slates him on here but in terms of making the difference and the role he plays he has been our biggest player, possibly one of the greatest in my eyes. I would love to see a statistic of the games we have won or lost with him playing and not playing.
You forget the big man has already won a Champions League amongst many other things. I'm not sure about off the pitch sometimes but on the pitch he is a class act.

Here is my view to the quote:

I hope not!! However, to include players from before 2001 will not be within the spirit of the quote. So, we are talking about a period when the early years did not inspire to say the least
However , I have been drawn into the discussion so here goes:
Best role model for younger people - certainly not Yaya probably Silva or Kompany or Pablo.
Best passer of the ball over short distances - probably Yaya but could be Silva
Best passer of the ball over long distances - not Yaya but close. Could be Silva
Best supporter of the club- certainly not Yaya with his "cake" and " brother" accusations. Could be Kompany or Silva or Pablo or Joe.
Scorer of the most important goals- Yaya would probably top this
Player who you could rely on to turn up every game - Certainly not Yaya by a mile
Player who gives 100% effort no matter if in form - Certainly not Yaya
Player who always shows appreciation to supporters at the end of every game - Certainly not Yaya could be Kompany or Pablo or several of the pre 2010 years
Best leader on the pitch - Definitely not Yaya
I could go on but, to me, Yaya will never be classed as a City hero. Yes he has scored some important goals. Yes, he has fantastic ball skills when he wants to show them but to be the overall best player of a generation you have to be a leader on and off the field and do everything you can to support the club and its ethics. Yaya fails miserably on these last two so I say thanks to him but it is time to say goodby. Will he will leave with good grace or have a go at us himself or through his manager ? We will have to wait and see. I suspect the latter!

Fuck me, the David Silva love-in. The guy is absolutely brilliant at football and passing and stuff. He's not brilliant at scoring goals though and ergo will never be a great of the game. Sure, he's been great for us but come on, the best?
Neither were Zidane, Zico, Baggio, Pirlo, Iniesta, Xavi....
When you look at that compilation and then throw the other great players we have had over the past five years we have definitely under performed , we should have absolutely dominated with this team instead of what has been achieved

IMO, he's the best city player ever. I think the influence he has, his ability to win big games with big goals, is astonishing. Love him.
Yep. And I'm also delighted that he didn't leave last summer (although we should've bought someone to replace him last summer) because it would've been particularly sad for him to go out without the fanfare he deserves. I hope that whatever decision the club makes this summer, they make it before the last game of the season so that if he is leaving, we get to give him a proper send off.

But it's also Silva's worst season for us so that's a bit of a daft point. Hope I'm not giving you too much of an earful.
