Yaya Toure

But it's also Silva's worst season for us so that's a bit of a daft point. Hope I'm not giving you too much of an earful.

It's not even a discussion never mind a point. By whatever metric you want to use Toure has been head and shoulders a more important, more impactful, more everything player than Silva. That's not even a slight on David in any way shape or form. He's also supremely talented footballer, just not at Toure's level. In the upcoming years it'll be the same with KDB. He'll eclipse Silva too. Because what both KDB and Toure have to go with the passing ability is the capacity to score goals out of nothing. They're pure match winners and David isn't. Again that's not slight on him.

And no so far you haven't given me an earful although I suspect that's about to change!

For me undoubtedly the most important player of his generation, although hopefully Serg which take that mantle by the time his contract ends. The really great players decide the outcome of the biggest games and Yaya has achieved this on so many occasions.

His roles in the team are never ending. He is responsible for supporting the striker from midfield, been the only player to score consistently from outside the box from midfield, responsible for linking the defence to attack, covers the most ground per game, takes free kicks and scores the vital goals.

I really enjoy watching Silva but would not be able to put him in the same category as Yaya and Aguero, probably in the bracket below. Players like Yaya have got the likes of Silva out of jail over the years because he does not influence the outcome of key matches directly anywhere near enough, where Yaya has stepped up. For an attacking/creative midfield in the 2012 or 2014 season he should be at least matching the stats of a Riyad Mahrez. But sadly nowhere near. From his position his strike rate is appalling and as one of the reasons the side has not evolved to a 4-2-3-1 until this year due to the likely lack of goals.

I like being a Silva fanboy. It's a nice place to be. Funnily enough I can also recognise Yaya for the absolute beast he's been for us. I'm glad I can enjoy both without just choosing one and slagging off the other to make a point - that would just be daft wouldn't it..

no doubt when silva is missing the team suffers a lot more then when toure is missing

I disagree with this. I think it's equal to be honest. Although saying that we've far better quality back up in Dave's role, we've virtually none in Yaya's as Dinho isn't a playmaker. With Lamps and Barry in the squad we missed Yaya far less than Silva.

Not at all, each to their own and all that.

A big +1 to this. The fact that you're labelled as a Silva fanboy on a City forum is mind boggling.

Silva biggest goal was Hull away , Yaya as never scored a big goal for us , oh hang on

Yaya walks it not just in front of Silva but since the takeover he as been the most important player in City's history

We will miss him next season , but in recent years I will remember both winners at Wembley in to win us the cup under Bobby , Newcastle away , Palace away, I could go on .

Like I was saying..

Everyone slates him on here but in terms of making the difference and the role he plays he has been our biggest player, possibly one of the greatest in my eyes. I would love to see a statistic of the games we have won or lost with him playing and not playing.

You forget the big man has already won a Champions League amongst many other things. I'm not sure about off the pitch sometimes but on the pitch he is a class act.

My fav goal.

Yup, won the Champions League whilst playing centre back against the Rags; which doesn't contirbute directly to him being a City great but adds a string to his bow that, say, a Colin Bell would have been capable of but certain other players would not or could not do.
