He'll go down as an all time great but he'll be phased out next season, Pep wont carry any passengers
Brilliant post.
You can just about get away with carrying a lazy forward if he's getting you 20+ goals a season (e.g. The fake Ronaldo) because they're like rocking horse shit but not a central midfielder. As the saying goes "you're only as good as your biggest weakness" and Toure's lack of legs is ours and has been for years.
Trying to paper over the cracks by having Fernando and Fernandinho in midfield with Yaya still leaves you down to 10 men for large periods of the game but people are still clinging onto the hope that will transform him back to the Yaya that scored 24 goals in one season, it won't, the lad is finished as an effective player for anything more than 10-15 minute spells.
False.
The exact same problems in the team have existed when Yaya hasn't played.
Implying that Delph or Fernando should start over Yaya is laughable. The biggest cause of our fall is that we can't defend as a team, especially when Kompany doesn't play, and that's with or without Yaya in the side.
Any midfield two we can field currently isn't good enough anyway. We look poor with Fernandiho and Fernando as well. With this current team we always need to be playing a 3 and that 3 would always include Yaya without a doubt.
Also, what it is worth, Yaya has been better and contributed more than Silva all season, apart from the first 5 matches.
That 10-15 minute spell would be more than Silva has contributed for 6 months.
Is Yaya the player he was? No, but to replace him we'll need two top players to rework the midfield and not just one. That says it all.
We can't defend as a team because we have a player less, Yaya. Trying to bring Silva into this is like bringing Maureen from No.36 up the road into it, completely irrelevant.
Does Maureen not have an opinion on it?

The big man might be a bit older these days but before he reached the twilight of his career at the top level, he was an unbelieveable force for Manchester City.
Some say David Silva, but for me, every single season we have won a trophy, Yaya Toure has been the better of the two and that includes this season as well.
Silva may have been more pleasing on the eye but in the big games where Silva maybe didn't have his usual influence, it was so often Yaya who produced a mammoth of a performance to take us all the way to glory.
Quite simply, the best Manchester City player of the past 40 years. Give this a watch and just remember what he once was and what he helped us achieve. Brilliant
