Yaya Toure

I will leave you all with what Cook said and thought about him..

Ex-City chief executive Garry Cook lavished a fortune on players in the aftermath of Sheikh Mansour’s 2008 takeover.

Cook sanctioned a £32m deal for Brazilian superstar Robinho and he landed Carlos Tevez the next year.

But Cook rates getting Toure as the best piece of business he ever did – and insists the Ivorian didn’t leave Barcelona for the £200,000-a-week wages.

“Yaya Toure was the one player who became the catalyst for change at the football club,” said Cook.

“He has become City’s talisman. The popular perception is that we signed Robinho and Carlos Tevez to attract other players to the club.

“But both of those guys were in it for what they could get rather than what they could do for City.

“Yaya was different. He came and said, ‘I’m going to make this club great’. He was THE ONE. After we signed him, every top player began to see the possibilities at City.

“David Silva, for example. If we hadn’t signed Yaya, I don’t think David would have come.

"Once we signed Yaya, all the others followed. He was like a Pied Piper."

Yaya has been a good servant for us over time. I'm not sure he can recover the past glory days, Pep got rid of him from Barca, I think he already knows he's out the door, it just sickens me that he shows a complete lack of unprofessional behaviour and heart. Rather leave home out an make him play with the reserves than drag the rest of the team down with his negativity.

Ok so didn't express it very clearly, meant to say his comments, he is attributed in the press to saying stupid stuff that alienates fans, makes him look a bit unprofessional etc

His comments? Be more specific will you with actual links him saying it and not brainwashed by the rag media..
Alienates fans? He signs autographs what more do want a ride in his car, only AJ gave you that:-)

It will be sad to see him go like this.

He was immense. He deserved to go with a title. Just a shame we collectively couldn't do that for him or with him.

That's why I said attributed to, and talked about his agents alledged comments. Think he could have come out to deny them re cake gate etc as all that nonsense made us a bit of a laughing stock in the press.

Bit of a laughing stock in the press, when have we not?
Think with the shit going on his life at that time was more important than what the rag media spouting about a fucking Birthday cake wasn't important so you think he should come out and deny it? Ain't that why we employ a press officer?
Did he come out publicly and say he wasn't shaging that Brass..

Think his agent said he wanted a piece of the cake at the club like what they gave vieira in the end but they put a spin on it?

I'm not a Yaya apologist if you want to boo a blue crack on...

I think Ya Ya has been the greatest central midfield player of the entire Premier League era. Unfortunately time caught up with him 18 months ago, and he's always given the impression (rightly or wrongly, and with or without his agent) that he loves himself first and the club second. I shall always choose to remember him as the rampaging monster, who destroyed Chelsea's midfield in the cup semi-final and terrorised the rags for 5 years solid, rather than the ambling fraud that he has become over the last year or so.......
