As the rag media was taking his comments out of context about him wanting out to Barca to finish his career, just a thought - would he make a good CB when his legs go?

Firstly, he's played there in a Champions league final. Hes good in the air, decent at tackling and one of the strongest players in the league.

Or would you rather just have someone younger and on a lesser wage bill in 4 years time at CB?

You can get away with it in the odd game, especially when you have 70% possession all the time like Barca, but no i don't see him being a good centre back. For such a big, imposing guy, he pussies out of too many tackles to be a defender, and i remember Leon Osman beating him to a header v everton this season. When he's no longer capable of doing his bursting runs forward, i say just keep him infront of the back 4 and let him pull the strings.
