After seeing us lose in the last minute 3 times to them this season, i have realised it is not just luck. United keep going for the full 93 minutes or whatever it may be, but we play 89 minutes then switch off and lose any gameplan we had. Yesterday we had played 89 minutes of staying calm and dealing with what we had to, playing the ball out of defence, then on 89 minutes we paniced and just booted the ball back up field to give them another go at us, and at that point i knew what was coming and i said it to my dad. All our players start running round like headless chickens, losing their positions and they just stay calm and keep coming at us, for however long the extra time may be we just panic and try to defend but fail in the end as noboday is calm and in position.

I still feel numb about yesterday but I am a City fan who can actually give the rags some credit, they played til the end and still had a 35 year old busting a gut to get into the box in injury time to score.

The gap is not closing though anymore the gap has closed in my opinion, the only difference I can see between the two clubs now is a bit of belief and that will come soon enough.

You DO make your own luck .......

but it's a damn sight easier to make your own luck when you actually have the ball , then make it when you've given it away ....... and that's the difference between the rags and us , they do it a whole lot less!

We were still going for the win in the last seconds of stoppage time. Bellamy's cross-field pass that was intercepted was ambitious attempt at trying to win the match that unfortunately for us backfired spectacularly.
Bellamy also wasted a great opportunity earlier to play Tevez in - when he opted to shoot instead. (in a move very similar to the goal we scored against Fulham)

I know I'm probably clutching at straws with this one, but on a different day we could easily have had a penalty when Barry was "felled" by Neville, and having seen the penalty given against Chelsea for the JT handball I thought it was very harsh assuming the ball did hit him on the arm which was far from clear.

Still think we're in for a good shout for 4th though.
Just have to beat Spurs.

I personally think people are going over the top in all this, the rags make their own luck, they have this wonderful never say die mentality no other team possesses, never stop going until the final whistle... No. Its down to basicly not giving the ball away as we did in injury time, and defending properly. Who was marking Owen? Who was marking Rooney? Who was marking Scholes? If people had been doing their jobs properly we never would have lost any of those games. If Richards knew how to defend, Owen would never have scored. Leaving your opponents best player unmarked from a corner is just asking for trouble. Ireland should have been marking Scholes, then had the cheek to blame Kompany and Toure for it. Where was Uniteds famous "never say die mentality" in both games against Chelsea? In the second leg against Bayern Munich? Because those teams knew how to defend and keep possession, something we never did.

That's it, Kiam. Nobbut a blade of grass difference, and the good news is, we'll get better, they can only stay as they are or get worse.

You are spot with that headline. Mates were saying to me yesterday that the rags were lucky and yes they were but if you keep getting the ball and put it into dangerous areas then yes you make that luck.

I hate the rags just like everyone on here but I can see where they get it right and we fall short. Look how many times they attacked down the flanks and always had the 2nd man to take a defender away or to sit behind the player with the ball, then receive it and have plenty of time to pick out a cross. Whereas when we attacked down the flanks we tend to leave it to the winger to beat at least two and don't offer him any support. It's simple stuff.

I'm not being hard on City here I just think we need to learn from it. We are not the only ones to lose to them in the last few mins. Yes we switched off but so do most. But to beat the top sides we've got to get a grip of that.

Anyone who thinks it's luck that the vermin scored in the last minute (again!) need to open their eyes. It's drilled into them to keep going until the ref blows the final whistle. How many late goals have they plundered this season, along with arsenal and Chelsea (and in previous seasons, Dipperpool)? And how many last minute goals have we scored? AJ at Mackemland springs to mind immediately, but after that I'm struggling. I'm not counting Bellamy's at the sty as it didn't turn out to be the last minute!
