"You silly old moo". Till Death Us Do Part being shown again.

The Goodies was shown on That's TV channel 2/3 months ago.
Some episodes/ sketches were funny, some were not.
Nothing particularly controversial or offensive in the show, unless you are upset by men in large flat caps beating fuck out of each other with black puddings.
"Eee bah gum ".
The deadly martial art of "Ecky Thump" !!!
I used to love the Goodies.
Tried to watch again the other year.
I could not believe how bad it was.
Definitely not stood the test of time.

Apparently The Goodies is the only comedy show where somebody actually died laughing at the show.
Some guy was laughing so much at them (back in the 70s) that he had a heart attack and died.
But I would have agree that most of the comedy hasn't aged well ,and it isn't really funny in this day and age.

Dad's Army and Faulty Towers, still funny as fuck. I watch FT every couple of years or so, still LOL.
Yep forgot about Fawlty towers some classic episodes still well worth a watch still funny, use to LOL at the Brittas Empire as well not many did :-)

Banning shows only gives them more publicity than they deserve.

If they were sat quietly on a streaming service, hardly anyone would watch them and those that did would probably have seen them before.

A bit OT but does anyone know why The Goodies are never rerun? I've seen all three make repeat individual appearances on telly so I assume they weren't persona non grata as such but I don't recall any repeats of their show.
Because they were shite.
I loved it in its heyday but whenever I have seen re runs , I thought it was awful.

Both TDUDP and Love Thy Neighbour mocked racist attitudes. But the racists didn't realise. Warren Mitchell & Dandy Nichols were outstanding.
In this country most of the audience were laughing at not with Alf Garnett. In the US version All In The Family more were disturbingly laughing with Archie Bunker. Love Thy Neighbour was seriously weird even for the 70s. Much of the diaogue involved Jack Smethurst and Rudolph Walker exchanging racist insults with each other.

Lets deploy the old "freedom of speech" defence. I demand my right to be a ****.
Everyone is totally free to say what they want. They always have been.

If you say something offensive or hateful, you run the risk of being prosecuted for it.

You are free to murder who you want. You’ll spend 20 years in prison for doing it though.
