"You silly old moo". Till Death Us Do Part being shown again.

Apparently The Goodies is the only comedy show where somebody actually died laughing at the show.
Some guy was laughing so much at them (back in the 70s) that he had a heart attack and died.
But I would have agree that most of the comedy hasn't aged well ,and it isn't really funny in this day and age.
I recall that. His family actually wrote to the beeb to thank them for making his last moments such happy ones.

Yep forgot about Fawlty towers some classic episodes still well worth a watch still funny, use to LOL at the Brittas Empire as well not many did :-)
Yeah that was good, Mr Brittas.

Does anyone remember The Squirrel's?
Office based sitcom. That was pretty good.

I remember it. That was truly awful as well.
Most of the sit com’s of the 70’s was shite.
With exception to George and Mildred, Man about the house and Porridge, Are you being served, It aint half hot mum, Dad’s Army and Steptoe.

I loved “Get some in” back then
fucking terrible now.

I was never keen on Flowery twats either, it has a cult following but not sure why.

Same with the Royle Family, my mrs loves it, I think it watchable once and thats it.
Mrs Brown’ boys, fucking awful.

Mrs Brown's boys as bad as it gets.
If you keep the series down to a couple I find I like it more.
I thought Last of the Summer wine was good for the first few series.
Went on far too long though thus spoiling the earlier appeal.
15 Storeys High and Early Doors are two that kept their appeal because of a couple of series.

To use the trendy modern term till death do us part, love thy neighbour and rising damp were probably the wokest comedies of the 70s.

Satirising the ignorant, racist , patriachial fuckwottery of post colonial britain and thw attitudes of post war generation class with the nation in transition.

Anyone who purely saw raccism in these shows and condems them to not be shown again never got the core joke and who was being taken the piss out of.
I think one of the issues at the time when watching it as a kid (remember there was only 3 channels) was as a kid I didn't get that the joke was on Alf - I only understood that when a little older and watching repeats that I was laughing at Alf, not with him.
But all the white school boys at my school took all the names used by Alf and in Love thy neighbour and flung them at the 10 black / Asian kids amongst 1,500 pupils..
I doubt school kids today will be watching it but the last thing that needs stirring up on the playground is a brand new generation of kids imitating the language used back then.

Like i give a shit. Millions believe in jesus and they're all wrong as well
Ridiculous comparison, 20m from around 55m population in total. It was very funny in it’s day, were you around mid 60’s or are you comparing it to later series and incarnations of the show?

Of course it is but it shows how a lot of people liking something doesn't mean its right or good.

Born in '64 and no telly til i was about 6. There were only 3 channels when this came out so getting 20m watching wasn't difficult.

Bang fucking on. Subtle anti-racist comedy my arse.
