I may be wrong here but, didn't he give Swales the V sign ?Did you happen to notice the look on the scorer’s face, by any chance?

It was the absolute nadir for match going Fans -going 3-4 games without a shot at Goal never mind scoring -which 100% is how bad it was and not a myth at allPersonally the Stuart Pearce season was the worst. Going to matches was torture mostly. I hated it even worse than Frank Clark's god awful time which was utterly dire from start to finish. On the other side Sven was brilliant, gave us back some self respect.
The stunned silence on the Kippax when Luton scored -until one lone Guy shouted after a few seconds “We are fucking down” has stuck with me all these yearsLosing at home to Bury felt like it couldn't get any lower.
The appalling start to the 80/81 season after a great pre-season. 0-4 v Sunderland in the opening home game.
But Luton '83 will always haunt anyone who was there.
You lucky bastard. I needed a snorkel...Stepping through 4" deep piss in the Kippax bogs was a bigger crisis than this.
My late father walked out before kick off when the news was announced....Boxing Day.When we sold Waggy to Wolves...
I've never really recovered from that.
