Your favourite City crisis?

I do love a crisis, looking at the table in easter praying we'd done enough to stay up makes me just has happy as winning silverware.

My favourite has to be mr swales appointing John maddock and sacking Reid. That was sort of our assassination of Archduke proportions moment, that one act was the catalyst that started the club on an out of control downward spiral.

The protests, the riots, the terrible players/managers, getting battered by teams whose kits were made by Bukta and the constant glimmer of hope that would start to fade away at about 4:30 every Saturday afternoon.

My favourite crisis was not winning away from home for an incredible 34 league games!!! Which ended with a win away to Bradford on 21st October 1987. It did'n't even bother me.
Back in those days I didn't even realise you could win away from home if you played in pale blue .

99....few game to go....we were in a chasing pack way out of promotion places. I d kinda given up.

I remember looking at the table thinking if we win our last few games....I d take the backdoor way up through the playoffs.

We managed a great run, got through 2 legs and met Gillingham(0-2). That was my crisis.
After that I was just happy to be out of league 1.

With City clearly in a deep crisis at the moment having won 4 league titles on the bounce and writing English football history in the process but then losing 5 games in a row, it got me thinking....what is your favourite City crisis?

Was it when Thaksin was getting banged up in Thailand and the club looked like it could be finished?

How about failing to score at home under Stuart Pearce from New Years Day until the end of the season?

Or were those draws under Mark Hughes the crisis you enjoyed?

How about 5 different managers (including caretakers) in 96/97?

Or was it relegation to the third tier in 98 that you enjoyed the most?

Personally it was Pellegrini's toothless CL semi-final at Real Madrid that I enjoyed the most. That was a real crisis
Crisis? What crisis? I've seen a couple of wee 'wobbles' since that bloody Jackie Milburn scored in '55 but when yer've stood through season after season of footballing dross I can't think of anything that might happen that I'd label 'a crisis'!

We had 8 Carling Premiership losses in a row under Ball after the 1-1 draw opener, but only 5 losses in a row as we had a 2 legger in the league cup.

It is a lot worse than 3 PL losses now even if it is 5 in a row total same as Bally. The 8 losses meant we eventually went down even though after the first 9 games things picked up and then went average, I remember ball getting Manager of the Month for November and thinking we would be okay.

Fall out with every player bar kinky as he couldn't speak English, and tell them you won the world cup, a recipe for success.

I remember Terry Phelan saying that on Ball's first day in charge he and a couple of others were stood around talking at the training ground when Ball appeared out of the mist, with his world cup medal in hand, and introduced himself by saying something like "I've won the world cup so I know what I'm talking about". He said at that point he lost the players pretty much instantly.
