As a cathartic exercise designed to wash away the negativity of the last few weeks and the worry I have for the rest of the season I asked myself what I thought City would look like this time next year.

In truth there was some serious soul searching with regards of the management of the team. As some of you may know from previous posts of mine I am not a Mancini out kinda guy and have, until very recently poo-pooed the idea of Mourinho taking over but now I have my doubts.

So after all the info has been weighed and measured, all the speculation considered and the whispers (and some of the whisperers) interrogated I came to these conclusions.

Team Management

Unfortunately I don't think Mancini is going to last.

It's not the results now but more the messages about the real intentions of the owners allied to the poor response from the team and just a general sense that he is a dead man walking.

I dont take pleasure in this one at all but I now think that Mourinho will be in place for the start of next season.

Europe

This is one of the reasons for the change of management. City will still be in the Europa League although they will not have qualified for the Champions League.

Squad

There are no doubt going to be a great number of changes to the squad whoever is in charge come next season. If Mancini were to be in the role the signs are that some of the home grown talent and recent purchases are on their way out.

The same will no doubt the case under JM - I will not be so presumptuous as to pick and choose players, creating a list of ins and outs but I think City will add more steel to the midfield, more class upfront and more speed of foot and thought in defence.

Names to consider - Ribery, Ansaldi, Maicon,Aguero and Lampard.

There is also likely to be at least one mega-deal that will hang in the balance for a while but fail in the 11th hour.

Joe Hart will be recalled by City and handed the number one position with Shay used as back-up

Boardroom

I know some of the readers of this wont like it but Garry Cook will remain in place alongside Brian Marwood but there may well be a new Chairman along the lines of Chelsea's Bruce Buck.

Infrastructure

This is the most positive aspect of next year in many ways.

The new training facilities will be under way with a planned opening in late Summer 2011. The worlds greatest training camp will be of the highest spec and mouth wateringly good looking to boot.

The old casino site will be well on the way with underground car parks, leisure and shopping marking it as a world class destination.

City will have its own 20 storey hotel reaching up into the sky making the club the real focus of Manchester.

The buzz around the club in terms of infrastructure will be second to none and surpass all expectations.

We will still be taking on board the announcement of the planned extension of COMS, its purchase by the club and the competition to name the soon to be refurbished 60,000 seater venue.

League Position

After an almost hellish two years or so behind them City fans will be gleefully looking at City being 2nd in the league behind Chelsea, with United a distant 4th.

Bluemoon

The forum will be packed with negative threads about the fact that we only managed to beat United 4 - 0 when it should have ben at least 6.

Some people are only happy when they are moaning ;-)

How have I done?

A bit pessimistic, really.

Can't we wait until the end of the season until we pass judgement.

The season is not over yet, and who knows where we will finish!

Let's wait and see, eh?

Not pessimistic just taking the longer term view.

There are enough people of the knee jerk types who could do with a dose of it in IMHO.

Its not writing this season off but looking at the bright bleu future we have ahead.

In fact I think the post is very optimistic.

12 months times do we have to wait that long? Next season starts in 6 months. That is when I believe the real work will start out on the pitch. Mancini will only be given to the end of the season to prove himself. Then yet another manager to join us, but who. If we had as many trophies to show as names of ex-managers. What a great trophy room we would have to show off. Jose mourinho will not come anywhere near us. We are to big a risk for him to take on. He may have been the special one. But remember we are City so we need God!

Europa league (favourites) - whether through champions league 3rd place in group stage or league finish.
Mancini
Similar squad with one big name i.e. Ribery added.
RSC top goal scorer
Toure still captaining
Out: Garrido, Petrov, Onuoha.
Robinho's back and doing ok.
Comfortable 3rd place finish looking likely
Nice patient 'on the floor' passing style
No changes in management structure
Out in Carling cup semis, thanks to the likes of Villa-Tottenham-Everton
And of course, moaning fans

Pardon the lack of calamitous changes & faith in the club/management/players.

I know. It's just so pessimistic and suicidal on here!

My own thoughts are we are doing as well as can be expected, really, given where the club has come from in the last 18 months.

I'm sure the future is bright, I just don't expect it to happen instantly, like waving a wand and a bit of magic dust, and hey presto, we are champions of the world.

It takes time, which some on here don't seem to realise.

Hey fbloke, I've recently heard a buzz that Cook/Mancini are both on the hitlist, with Mourinho/Kenyon targeted as their possible replacements.

Wasn't anybody I speak to you if you know what I mean, just a friend of a friend. Any analysis of this, or it's likelihood?

Someone who's replaced Cook, who i don't know.

Manager: Jose Mourinho

League Position: 3rd

Europa League: Last 16

Champions League (If top 4): Last 16

Captain: Vincent Kompany

Top Scorer: Carlos Tevez

Bluemoon Forum: In meltdown after we have just beat the scum away 4-0 with a Tevez hat-trick and a top quality goal by David Villa.

12 years ago,our "derby" was Macclesfield ffs.We are now sitting joint 4th in the PL.Since the CC defeat at prawn palace,we have been utter shite, but we're still JOINT 4th.Think about it City guys/gals,we've came a long way in that 12 years.....yes ?,Are we gonna get better....yes ?.Some peple on here are either too young or too daft to realise what has went on with City in the last 25/30 years.CTID.TTT......rant over, thanks.

I don't think Lampard will consider a move, especially with his long term contract. I think you guys could get Ribery and Maicon. Hopefully not Aguero.

Mancini still the manager
Maicon and Vargas our new full-backs
Anelka back/Cassano - one of the two.

Stephen Ireland in much better but still not top form.

Boj, Petrov, Robi, Benjani, Caicedo all left permanantly.

Vieria and Sylvinho still here coming to the end of their contract extensions

In the Europa League after finishing third in CL groups
joint third in the league but a fair few points off the leaders

bluemoon flapping

Unfortunately, your post that was supposed to take away from the negativity may only add to it.

Hopefully we can keep Mancini for a long time and let him build a dynasty here, it is impossible for it to be done in four months with only a winter transfer window.

Khaldoon will still be here as well as Robinho.

here's a hopeful scenario

we continue to build on the last couple of performances. patient disciplined play begins to pay off. a point at chelsea. we win one of the two away games and beat tottenham... keep winning at home an picking up the odd win away. we scrape into the top four this year.

several players leave in the summer, one or two suprises. we sign top quality young talent. and yaya toure.

season begins quite slowly whilst the new boys adapt. wins and losses all over the shop. things settle down in october, our passing game is improving quickly and our attack is just too much for most teams. we fall just short in the champs league group stages, having notched up memorable two legged win over benfica and lyon, and a classic win at the san siro on the way. semi finals of the carling cup again. in twelve months time we are in third place behind chelsea and arsenal, 6 points off the lead with two games in hand.

please god. please.

Finished in fourth.

Currently battling again for fourth after getting knocked out of the Second Round of the CL, the quarters of the CC and the semis of the FA.

I'd be quiet pleased with that.

Boj to come back and be the next (dare I say it) Wooney? ;)

Battling for fourth/3rd again and in the CL still. Semi's/Final of A cup.

A Team who is fully behind the manager and happy with what he is doing.

GREAT AWAY FORM would be an absolute must for me, it's been an achilles heel for us for as long as I can remember.

Tevez to score 20 + goals would be nice.

Johnson to be the winger we're looking for.

A defensive record that makes strikers worry. Why were we going for Terry when Carvalho was available again!?
--------------------------------------------

Ok, that was what I want, this is now what I think we will be doing.

Fighting for fourth with Villa, Spuds, Gollums and possibly Fulham.

We'll still be moaning about a manager and the way he is making us play.

We'll be a better team with a few additions, maybe the likes of Trowchowski (PLEAAAASE) - and a few sales - Petrov, Benjani, Robinho?, Garrido perhaps.

In a cup semi final again, losing out in another cup to perhaps a mid table Premier League club.

Will win a derby match, and Ferguson will call us something else relating to "small" - he can go fuck himself.

Gollum will call us for nicking Arteta off them! :O!!!!!!

Manager: Mancini

League Position: 4th/5th/6th.......similar to now.

Europa League: Unless we have a stronger squad then i'd rather we went out early.

Champions League (If top 4): Knocked out in first group stage

Captain: Vincent Kompany

Top Scorer: Carlos Tevez

Bluemoon Forum: A huge love in........for a change lol

lescott still has dodgy knees

petrov still has dodgy knees

santa cruz still has dodgy knees

m johnson still has dodgy knees

bellamy still has dodgy knees

mad zab still booked every game

We seem to be the centre of all rumours in footie again!

I've not heard anything like that but I was told that Khaldoon was moving on for next season.

That wonderful thing called time will tell.

God I hate the waiting!

Mancini still manager, don't prescribe to the Jose theories. Why would he come?

Still struggling to attract the really top drawer players. I just think its a little previous for that we need to raise our profile in terms of league standings over a couple more seasons for that.

The most fascinating aspect will be the redevelopment around the stadium. Thats bound to raise our profile even more on an international basis.

My wish is to make reasonable headway each season anything in the next twelve months including a cup or champions league place would be a bonus. Patience is the key
