Youth players and their long term futures

Ben Mee - Got good potential, however, if he was going to make it at City, he really should have made his debut long before he actually did. And until we sent him to Leicester we hadn't ever even loaned him out. Will succeed somewhere, most likely in the Championship or a lower Premiership side, but not at City. It's a shame, because after the Youth Cup win I was very optimistic about him breaking through. Hughes wasn't interested in him though.

Greg Cunningham - Good that he's already played a few games for us. Because of the time the injury in his career has come, I don't see it having a big impact on his potential. Has looked Ok in the games he has played, and it was great to see him get a cap for Ireland. Will have a successful career somewhere. Might be able to force his way through at City although I can't see it.

Kieran Trippier - Heard good things about this lad, and he's done well in his loan at Barnsley. However, like Mee, I would have liked to have seen him have played for the first team a few times by now, although at least he does have some experience. Think he might actually make it for a Premiership side, although not City, we've got 3 right backs already, two of which are in their very early 20's.

John Guidetti - Thought he was possibly our best player against West Brom, he looked decent and had some good moments, showed some nice skill and looked like he might score once or twice. Of all the ones mentioned, he's the one I see most likely to succeed at City. Maybe loan him out for the rest of this season and bring him into the first team next season. Get the feeling we may well regret it if we let him go. Will succeed in the Prem and maybe even in European competitions.

Jeremy Helan - Things have gone a bit quiet on him, although from what I've heard he's done all right at reserve/youth level. But the problem is we've got Cunningham as well. Think he's going to need some first team football soon, maybe a loan would be a great idea. If he goes out on loan, does very well, then I could see him coming back to City and making an impression. Wouldn't give up on the lad, thats for sure.

Harry Bunn - Wouldn't rule him out from making it at City either, tbh. Really seems like he knows where the goal is, and I hope we do see him on the bench before the season ends. Next season, maybe a loan out to League One or Two side would be wise. We have to make sure he doesn't just waste his time in the reserves like Mee has. But with Guidetti, Nimely, Poole, Ball and our first team strikers in front of him, it could well be very difficult for him.

Two other people who deserve a mention are Frederic Veseli and Ahmad Benali.

dont think we'll see many youth players come through to the first team for the next 5 years at least, but when they do start coming through i believe that we could see some crackers. think we need to model our academy on the barca system after all we've all seen the quality they are bringing through.

The youth players we produce, are not good enough.
Our wealth has proved that, ever since we were taken over.

Youth players feature less, and less, as each transfer window passes.
It really shows, how far we have come.

Very, very slim chance that any current graduate will make a top 4 side.
With the exception of Boyota (From what we've seen)

Majority of them, are Championship - Leauge 1 level.

I don't think this is correct. Have you seen all our youth players?

Even if you have, we have some talented lads on the books in my opinion. I just hope they get a chance, as this is all some lads need. Young talent comes through, so why not from us.

Players of the standard of those mentioned will come through but won't be regulars for us, they will play the odd game be it cup or league, they will be sold bringing in the odd 1 or 2 million per player that will then be put back into the academy system making it self funding, something the rags have been doing for years, we will then wait for that one diamond to come through but we could be waiting a long while, any player making it as a regular at city will have to be far in advance of the youth we have now and I include boyata in that

What isn't correct?

No I haven't seen every one, none have been knocking on the door so far though.

Jim Cassell thought Trippier was ready for the first team two years ago. At that time we had Corluka, Richards and Nedum in the squad.
