Is it just me or does this guy look totally out of position in midfield, yes he did a great job for us with 10 MEN against Wigan with our backs to the wall and his tenacious tackling coming into play, but he isnt a calm head in midfield on the ball that we need. Hughes is obviously just playing him there as to accommodate Micah into right back, when in all reality he should just drop him. Why on earth were playing with both de jong and zab in midfield i dont know, especially when we could of just gone out and bought the box-to-box midfielder we desperately needed (Palacios). Without zab's driving runs up the wing were starting to lack the width we possessed earlier on in the season, and its starting to rub off on shauns performances. With Micah "I cant control a football" Richards giving him no support and passing him the ball with his back to goal, its no wonder shauns having a bad time of it recently (bar last night). I dont know, i just dont think Zab and De jong/Kompany works at all as it clearly hasnt had a positive effect on both our defense and our forward play.

he should be right back

then play 2 from Richards , Ned and Dunne at centre half

Kompany in a holding role and De Jong on the bench (at home) and both playing away from home

Yep, although id be inclined to play Vince at CB with Dunne (whom he isnt going to drop) because the other 2 are way to similar to Dunney. I quite like De Jong, i just think he needs a good footballer along side him to pass the ball to, and that midfielder isnt Zab. Hes clearly a right back.

Zabaleta? He did it against Fulham very effectively, and countless other times this season. Richards is awful, there ive said it.

I would like Kompany in at cb with Ned. De Jong should be an instant starter for us as I believe he will become a massive player for us. Richards needs dropped with Zab going into rb.

I think that none of the back four has much of a clue what the others are doing, or will do, so we have the seeds of total confusion. A good ten points lost this season with the dithering.

imo zab is great in midfield but is needed more at right back as richards form is terrible at the min and no one else who is good can fill in for him except for zab
