Zab

On the way past the ground going home on our coach we had to stop at the exit of Villa Park. Glancing to my right I noticed Bernard Halford sat at the front of the team coach, our coach erupted, Bernard waved thumbs up at us then stopped to answer his mobile looking concerned he got off the coach and paced backwards toward the stadium. what could be wrong? 3 or 4 minutes later a flustered Zaba runs towards the coach from the stadium, had they forgotten him ? God forbid no!!

here's audio from his goal vs QPR. Should be the new Zab chant:

ZABALE-ZABALE-ZABALE-TA....NA, NA NANA NA NA NA !!!!!!!!!

I love the guy!

Not only is he a top pro, he's also our most versatile player, IMHO.

First, he was a right-back, then he played as emergency left-back.

Then he was in midfield.

And on Sunday, he played the first half on the left side of the back three and the second half on the right.

Yes, I know we all know this, but I thought it was worth illustrating his versatility.

He's never afraid to get stuck in and must have had more minor injuries than any player for a long time.

And to cap it all off, he goes along to the EDS games and mingles with the supporters. A more down-to-earth guy you could not meet.

And considering the amount of times he got up and down the touch line against QPR, he will be great at wing-back in our new formation.

He's everything that's POSITIVE about the modern day footballer.

Comfortably my favourite City player as there are no airs and graces about him and I just can't speak highly enough of him as he just gets on with it.

My favourite moment from him was the Stoke league game after the FA Cup triumph, when he got another crack in the head, and he went banana's - I couldn't stop laughing !

I'm too long in the tooth to get start struck over players but I would with Zab if I ever had the good fortune to meet him.

I have told this story before, but it sums him up so well it needs telling again. He came along to a Disabled Supporters Association meeting, many of you will have been to fans meetings and queued up to get an autogrpah, we sat him at the top table and asked one table at a time to come up as we hate seeing disabled fans queue, "No" said Zab "I will go to them" he then spent an hour walking the room making sure everyone got a photo and his autograph. A millionaire footballer literaly waiting in line to meet us one at a time. Numerous of our members came to me after thanking me for the way we arranged it, I simply said, "You saw it same as me, it was Zab who wanted to walk the room rather than have anyone queue to see him"

Cheers for posting that. Great to read, especially having just read the Adebayor thread!

One thing a like about many of our current crop of players is that they seem to have a bit of class about them.

Agreed. Hopefully it will help to get the press onto our side now that we are getting noticed.

He is a legend.
He took one for the team when he sent the ginger mutt early to the shower in our recent FA cup winning season.

He is the quintessential team player.
