Zabaleta - Assistant manager of Albania (P14)

The word "legend" is bandied around far too much nowadays, but it’s fair to say that Pablo Zabaleta deserves to be called one for everything that he did at Manchester City.

Not only did he stay at our club much longer than most players remain with the same team today, but he also played like a lifelong Blue and often shed blood for the cause. It was not unusual to see him with a bloody bandage around his head

Additionally, off the field, he behaved like a supporter, coming along to Academy games and happily mingling with other Blues.

His last game in a Blue shirt was one of the most emotional evenings I have experienced at Etihad and is something I’ll never forget.

Enjoy your retirement, Zaba, and I hope we see you back at Etihad in some capacity soon.

My all time City hero. One of my favourite City memories is the last 10 seconds of the league cup semi at home to Everton, were hanging on and Zabba starting at right back careers across the pitch winning one 50/50 40/60 after another, before belting the loose ball into the top tier. He wanted it as much as we did, just love the bloke. Bring him home.

When I think of the quintessential city player I think of Pablo. On and off the pitch he represented everything this club is about. I can't wait to see him back involved with the club in whatever capacity he wants. Congrats on an incredible career Zaba!
