Just returned from a Brooklands & Baguley supporters club meeting where Pablo Zabaleta was the guest of honour. He was very humorous and displayed good English - more articulate than most of the people in attendance.

He was asked very early what Carlos said to him on the bench in Munich and was pretty evasive in his response - in a professional way. Intimated that Tevez’s imminent departure from the club is in both the player and club’s interests.

One thing is for sure, if you were to cut him he would bleed blue blood. He spoke with fondness of his time living in Didsbury and the regulars of the Nelson pub and also what he considers his duty - supporting the EDS in their games. Both were greeted with a round of applause.

He made it clear that the spirit in the camp is fantastic and that it is the happiest time he has experienced in football.
Just a bit annoyed his girlfriend wasn’t with him

Viva Zabaleta

Zab was asked how close he was to Messi and what is he really like. He said they have played together since youth team level, considers him a close friend and very humble. He was then asked if he has tried to convince him to play for Manchester City. Zab winked and said i'm working on it.....

Did he talk about Napoli at all?

He was asked about Europe in general and said it is so different to playing in the premier league and it will take time to adapt. He said in Italy they defend deep and then attack quickly on the counter and in spain they play possesion football which we need to get used to. Also he said in England the teams respect us more so give us more space to play which suits our game

Paul Lake was at the Haughton Green supports club lastnight, and was absolutly superb.

But what I wanted to pass on was that he said out off all the current players, there were 3 who he felt were blue through and through and would make time for anyone at or linked with the club. Those 3 were Zaba, Kompany and De Jong.

In Killens in Munich doing the Conga around the place to 'Do Do DOO Pablo Zabaleta' followed by 20 germans having the time of their lives with absolutely no idea what was going on. Until we explained. What a guy....

Also did it in the snow in Copenhagen

Ironically, all from Hughes' era.

Also bollocks really.

Everytime I see Baguley flagged up I always think of my old school which was Baguley hall juniors (It had it's own swimming pool).

But I digress.

Zabba is second in line to Micah Richards as my favourite player which is no mean feat.

Sounded like you guys had a good night, Zabaleta truly is a good player in my estimation, because when asked to get the job done, Zabaleta just rolls his sleeve's up and gets on with it, one other thing is how he gets behind the EDS team to encourage them, now that would give those young fella a boost......

For those who attended, does he understand why he is regarded in high esteem by the City faithful, and does he really like his Fish & Chips,so much ?

-- Sat Nov 26, 2011 3:31 am --

And your point being ??

It's fantastic to have a player who displays a similar passion for the club as the supporters, its just a shame his ability doesn't match the heights of his attitude.

Oh come on !!
He aint got the skills of some, but at times I wish we had some more like him.
Wish players like Kolarov,Johnson and Co. had the balls like him !

As do i,however,i honestly fear the worst when he's up against decent opposition, especially those with pace.A major reason we now need a miracle to progress in the Chumps league.

Yep have to agree, that Tuesday he wasn`t at his finest, but I would still have him and regard him as more than good enough for the PL.

I definitley agree with that,Mancini,as he normally does.... just has to be very selective which games he uses him for.
