Zonal Marking...???

Neville Kneville said:
The goals conceded from corners v Ajax were due to markers not marking before any zonal problems.

If people are going to slag off zonal marking, at least go to the trouble of finding out what it is first, rather than just repeating what some clueless, overpaid twat on the radio or TV has said.
Correct it was a mixture of zonal and man marking and it was the man marking that failed....but as you say some cant even see that, not even when there is a Gif showing Ajax's second goal

No one moans when a goal is conceded from man marking, the media go on about it as if its the fucking devil. Mancini knows more in my eyes. It worked last year.
Very true, we have changed the back line so many times this season it was always going to give us a problem, zonal or man marking. We have been pretty solid other than in europe and the first 2 home games.

We still don't play Full Zonal. 2 players are there to pick up runners - typically the two tallest outfield players. One is normally Ya Ya. The other varies (normally Dzeko) if he's on the pitch. As you can see in the gif YaYa fecked up badly against Ajax.

Still not a fan of this. It never works with:

1. Wide playing teams (like the 'shite), too much space is available on either channel.

2. Pass and move football, as played in Europe.

The 'shite used man to man marking today, and gave our strikers no space. Both our goals came through a packed defence, we never had any real space to work in like both their opening goals.

Fucking gutted.
