Such is the industry, guys like Custis are nothing more than reporters now.

Match reporting is irrelevant, so I'm sure Custis isn't kidding himself, he knows he is in a very fortunate situation, these days, still paid to travel to games around the world, merely because the newspapers exist for the sake of existing.

It's so sad.

The internet drove down standards and, unfortunately, people such as Custis are now considered the top of their game out of nothing more than their longevity.

The people coming after him are all social media junkies who wouldn't know how to source a story or cultivate a contact if they were handed it on a plate.

Matt Lawton at the Mail has just won sports journo of the year again.

Now he's a sports journalist.

And before anyone holds up the standards of broadsheets. Most of them have been at the red tops, prior. The only reason they moved on was because they couldn't hack it in such a demanding environment.

That reminds me - a mate was in the Fletcher Moss a few years back and someone (think it was a blue) launched his pint all over Custis who seemed surprised that anyone would think to do such a thing to him! I couldn't remember for sure that it was Custis but it must've been if he drinks in there.

I'd prefer to say we're going to buy clever not just big. Clever is what Pep and his back room team are. The whole feel of the team will change with two dynamic full backs, and also Jesus will be over his injury. Jealous pricks need sorting out but that's one for the PR thread
 
These nob head hacks are becoming personalities with all the exposure on tv, radio and twitter these days.

There is hope for the unemployed.
